I know how you feel. I was a virgin my first time with my current SO and he is a similar in size. It took a long time to get used to and now if we don't have sex for more than a few days it hurts all over again. Try a position like spooning that allows for more shallow penetration or you on top and go at your own pace.

I dated a guy who was really big for awhile. The first few times it took some getting used too. The whole time we dated I would bleed if we got rough.
