Ahh, okay. Still. That's ridiculous.

I always thought of AL as being a rather conservative, "get the government out of my business" kind of state. So, that surprises me. I know SC is rather difficult to homeschool in as well.

Texas is awesome to home school in! They're like "whatever, teach them stuff, we trust you". lol Not looking forward to having to learn new homeschool laws when/if we PCS.

Because we totally need an illiteracy rate that is on par with Africa. Sometimes, the public school teachers are the only ones that give a crap about the kids they teach.

Having a nice home and being from a middle class income background does not guarantee that the child has parents who care about their education.

Indiana is nice as well. We have to keep attendance, and be able/willing to show our records of that to the schools (if requested). But they have no say in what/how we teach.

I would never want to homeschool.   Which is kind of funny considering what i want to do as a career.

What I would not be opposed to if I had the money and resources is to homeschool other people's children. Of course, the parents would have to understand that I will not be basing my teachings on religion. hehe

Thank goodness for those teachers who pour themselves out like that. I'm so thankful people like that (like Jess, and you one day..) are out there.

I told M that as a teacher, I'm probably going to be one of the ones who doesn't make teaching a career but my life.

I have a feeling those kids year after year are going to mean so much to me.

My sister jokes that she's going to send her son to me to homeschool.

I like the idea of homeschool but I don't think it's a good option for my girls. Mad props to you though.   I need that distance from my kids that school provides.

I'm working it out with Chris, but I'm working on a plan where I'll get one evening "off" every week. I can go sit and have some coffee, and whatever....just ME.

I'd also run into the problem of my schooling. If I had decided to homeschool, my education would be put off until I was in my 40s.

I couldn't get an education without public schools.

Yea. We've discussed this a lot. I won't be rejoining the workforce (besides my PC, which I do actually do well in..) for what..18 years? Yikes! More if we have more kids.

Keeping attendance for home school is funny. Yup, they were here. Every day.
