re: do i enroll my daughter in kindergarden this year or next???

Call the school you want your kid to go to---with my oldest, I was going to have him start k at 6 (he has one of those in-between birthdays in the summer and would have been 6 all year, graduating hs at 1 

Come to find out, they can start k at 4 and not turn 5 until December in our district---so he would have been much older than most of the other kids, and he ended up having to skip K and go right into first grade, which ended up with him doing a lot of adjusting and catching up.

Anyway---just call and see what they recommend.

Sera misses the cut off by 2 months so she will be 5 when she starts but will turn 6 a few months later.

My son had been going to a private preschool since 3. He turns 5 on July 1st and will start kindergarten this fall. Our deadline is 5 by Sept 1st.

the age cut off varies by state, i believe (maybe even different counties within the state). i went to school kindergarten through half of third grade in ohio and then we moved to south carolina. in ohio, i was around the same age as everyone else. when we moved to south carolina, i was a year older than everyone in my class because the cut off dates were different. i was actually picked on by other kids in my class because they thought i was stupid and had been held back since i was older than them.

if she is super-smart and mature, yes. otherwise, I'd wait.
