Possible miscarriage?

posted 15th Jan
I wasn't sure where to post this topic or not, i don't want to offend anyone who has miscarried before, i just have no idea what is going on with me. Anyways i will cut to the chase. I was expecting my period yesterday, but got it early Sunday morning, i am usually on time exactly. I had thought maybe i was pregnant and i took a test about a week ago and it was negative, but i realize i took it to early because of the anticipation of waiting. I have the paragard in, i've had it since august of '12 and my periods have been okay a little heavier than usual and a bit more cramping but nothing i can't handle. Early sunday morning i started spotting and just thought oh i'm probably just starting, yesterday i was also still very light until last night. I started literally gussing blood, i was going trough a super + tampon in less than an hr. my cramps have been horribe but its not constant, it comes and goes. im also having pain on only the left side of my abdomen if i apply any pressure and my lower back is hurting. I am passing lots of clots, but they arent huge, just probably a normal size but theres alot. I decided i wouldnt wear a tampon to bed last night and put a pad on to see what it looked like when i woke up. when i checked there was alot of tissue and clots and some grey material in there and it was thick almost like jello. I am still cramping and bleeding the same. I actually feel like im having contractions. I also know how hard it is to get pregnant on the paragard but i was having sex on the days i ovulated in dec. and i know the risks of getting pregnant on paragard also thats why i am worried. I have never had a miscarriage before so i dont know what to look for. I've read up on it online and i have the symptoms but i also never had a positive pregnancy test to go off of. has anyone been through this? do i need to get checked out? or could this be normal due to my paragard?

It isn't uncommon to have a "wonky" period once in a while. Especially while on B/C. I would be less inclined to believe it is a miscarriage.

You peed on a stick it said negative. I'm guessing you aren't having a miscarriage and you are just having a heavier period.

I would have gone to the doctors yesterday when the you were going through a tampon in less than an hour. So yes I would go to get checked out.

If your concerned I would go see your doctor or go to the ER. Good luck!

It may have been an early MC, I would set up an appointment with you doctor. 1 for the pain and 2. Because if it was an mc they will have to make sure you passed everything or you will need a scraping/clean out. I have had 5, it's rough and I am sorry if that is the case. If it isnt you still want to get checked because you are in pain and abnormally bleeding. Good luck sorry hun.

I was on Paragard for two and a half years and I am no stranger to any of this. However, I would still go get checked out.

Thank you. I am a constant worrier. I haven't been feeling so good lately either. alot of it has to do with paragard. light headed, dizzy, sleeping constantly. I'm trying to get into the doctor today, i feel something somewhere is out of whack. im starting to think im getting copper toxicitity. I've never had any luck with birthcontrol, i chose paragard because i can't have hormonal birthcontrol and i'm even starting to regret that decision. If i wasn't wanting more children i would just go get my tubes tied but i think my husband would have a fit over that one lol

This is NOT ER worthy.

Since you've only been on the Paraguard since August, I would be more inclined to believe that it's your body still adjusting to that.

I struggled with BC as well. Matter of fact, I just had a partial hysterectomy because hormonal B/C and I aren't friends. Well, I have other health issues combined but, I don't do well with it.

Paragaurd isn't for everyone. I am sure there is a second choice in a non hormonal IUD. Or I thought there was anyway.

I hope you get some relief soon.

That's what i was told by my gyno, but reading everyones horror stories has made me believe otherwise! I have lupus and as a result have micro vascular angina and crohns disease. so far. Knowing that with Lupus any organ can just stop working i am very weary about what i put in my body. i didn't know some of the things paraguard could do. I have chest pains constantly on top of the angina i already suffer from. I take dif meds daily and when i still feel like crap its nerve wracking. I also posted in here because since i do have lupus my chances of miscarriage are also higher. I have also gotten pregnant on the pill and the implanon. i was hoping by switching to a non hormonal bc i would feel some relief in not thinking i'm pregnant every other month, i guess not lol.

You are so young and have so much on your plate. I am sorry.

Well, with the Lupus I am not sure that I would TTC more children anyway. Perhaps a tubal would be a good idea. Who knows. I would talk to your specalist and see what they reccomend about your condition and your future plans.

Natural family planning. Practiced properly, it's as effective as other birth control, without the nasty side effects.
Any time you put a foreign object in your body, hormonal or not, you are at risk of triggering autoimmune disorders. Since you already have one, the risk intensifies. Get that out of your body ASAP.
