Teething and Chest Congestion??

posted 15th Jan
Has anyone ever had a baby who gets congestion from teething? My son will be 4 months in a week and 2 days. Well he has been teething. Then this morning he woke up with congestion in his chest. He's not coughing a whole lot but when he does it sounds pretty nasty and his crys aren't very loud almost like it's hurting him to cry. He has a temp of 97.6. His temperature is normally about 96.8. So no fever. I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking I'm going to have to get him in to the doctor tomorrow. I gave him some pain meds, but I just feel so horrible for him. His eating has slowed down a little bit, but he just downed 6 oz so it's back to normal now. But he didn't want to spit the bottle out he just wanted to chew on it so I pulled the pacifier back out (weaned himself about a month ago) to let him try that. He chewed a little and spit it back out thank goodness lol. He had been smiley and happy all day but now he just seems miserable. I just put him in his swing to sleep cause I feel it's safer right now. I'm looking for any advice or experience on this. I'm a first time mom so I'm really worried about him. Especially with all these colds and junk going around!

my roommate daughter is teething too (just turned 4 mos yesterday) and shes all congested. best thing you can do is a cold rag for him to chew on and all natural teething tablets.

When my LO was 4 months old she got bad congestion... I didn't know what to do so I took her to the e.r. and she ended up having bronchiolitis (sp?) they said she was too young for antibiotics but that when she had a fever to give her tylenol and they told me to give her two puffs every so many hours for the wheezing, it took her a long 2 months to get fully over it. I hope thats not what your DS has   I'd make a doctors appointment asap just to make sure though.
If your son is wheezing or starts to take him in the e.r. asap!

If anything gets worse I will definitely take him to the ER. I would have possibly already just to ease my mind if it wasn't a 20 minute drive to any hospital round here and both of them aren't the greatest... Right now no wheezing. His breathing is really quiet actually. He's sleeping really nicely right now. If he gets a fever I will take him in too. I'm checking every time he wakes up.
