If you have/had PPD

What made you realize you had it? What symptoms did you have with it? Did talking with a therapist help, or did you need medication?

I was more depressed then I was before. And it lasted longer than baby blues

I was jelous of the baby, she was his 1st baby, my 2nd, but my 1st girl...

I was mad that he was always taking care of her and I felt like he didn't love me...

She was 36 week premie, so she had gas and colic, evertime she cried I would get annoyed like she was doing it on purpose,  

I had ppp, tho, I just took care of her when no1 else was around to... not because I wanted to   I was upset that *she made me fat*

Ahhh I could go on and on, but it just makes me look like a smurf, end of the day I always knew it wasn't right for me to feel that way, it started right away like as soon as she was born I didn't want her near me...

Took me 5 weeks to finally lose it bad enough crying, while she was crying, I went to hosp and was evaled. Got sent to 24 urgent care for mental health, started meds for my panic and anxiety... then I started counseling next day, got pshyc meds... I was. Completely diff person by end of the week, just knowing I did something to make myself feel better

See, that kinda how i am, with being annoyed by her and the crying. My SO and dad also think i have PPD because of how i've been acting. But i don't FEEL depressed.

I rarely feel depressed... I just turn into a douche...
I've had *depression since I was 14ish, and I was diagnosed with ocd at 8 soooo I'm pretty nutts,
I haven't felt depressed since I was 16ish I went down hill...

I can't explain why I'm frustrated, and that makes it worse, sometimes just the sight of my husbands face makes me want to claw him, I hate his *face* I just get really irritable, nobody can do anything right, my kids never, ever shut there beacks, and I pretty much have to go hide in a room till I calm down...
Sm*rfed up part is I will be absolutley sweet to strangers, or my friends,
but sometims I can't stand to be around like my mom, godmother,
husband, kids, people who are always just *there*

Yup, that sounds exactly how i've been. SO has Manic depression, and thinks i have Manic PPd. Sounds like he may be right ...

i had medicine and a therapist hun, both helped alot

Well I had ppp, being manic is a part of that, I would look into getting evaluated...

Sorry on my phone, prob not best page but it has the symptoms right at top, besides hearing things, u sound like I did, I didn't hear things but I used to have these crazy ideas, and theorys about *everything* and the baby was like the mastermind...

SO looked at the link you provided, and agrees that PPP fits me for the most part. I have an appointment for this afternoon with my OB. I'll keep everyone posted.

I just wanted nothing to do with my baby. I could feed her, dress her and change her nappy but there was no emotional attachment. I would just have her laid on the floor playing with toys most of the day while I watched TV or surfed Facebook. She was ten months old before I realised I probably had ppd and I felt awful that id emotionally neglected her. I went to see a doctor the day after who had me answer a questionnaire and I cried when I realised every symptom was describing the exact way I felt. I was on pills for a couple of months before I felt better. It happened again with DS but I had more support when I had him and so it was dealt with at my 6 week check up x I hope things are sorted for you soon and that you have plenty of support, you're always welcome to pm me if you ever need to talk c

The doctor put me on Zoloft to to help with it. Have you ever taken it?

I've never taken zoloft, I've only taken prozac, wellbutrin, lexapro and celexa, celexa and wellbutrin are only things that worked well for me, they gave me ativan and xanax for the anxiety and paranoia, and only benedryl when I was preg and breastfeeding, and weened off all other meds

PPD. When i told the nurse i thought it might be PPP, she had never even heard of it.
