The point of checking you just increases infection. There is NO REASON to be checked what so ever but once every couple of hours if even that. I refused being checked after my water broke until I started having pressure and that was just to make sure my cervix was all the way dilated before I started pushing. Even then I really wasn't for being checked but it gave the doc time to get to the hospital in case I needed another c-section. My next kid I'm refusing any dilation check. There shouldn't be a time limit on how long you labor.
