Epidural- spinal headache?

posted 15th Jan
My head has been hurting since I gave birth on Friday. It gets about a thousand times worse if I look down or bend over. I told them at the hospital, I was told it sounded more like a dehydration headache. I tried drinking a lot of water. I have tried Norco, ibuprofen and Tylenol. The Norco actually made it worse. The other two did nothing. It's getting worse instead of better. I'm getting dizzy and blurred vision. I'll be calling the doctor's office tomorrow, but what can I do until then? (I called 2 times today, no answer)

I had this issue after my daughter, it got progressively worse and then I started getting shooting pains from my lower back all the way down into my heel, my leg would even go out on me. Come to find out they diagnosed me with sciatica stating it was from the epidural needle severing my sciatic nerve. This may not be the case with you but I would look into it. With this baby I'm going to try to fore go the epidural. good luck hun I hope its nothing serious, but my advice would be to lye still in the dark for a lil bit till you feel a lil better. hope you feel better soon hun.

i had this with my first. the only thing that felt the tiniest bit better while i was waiting it out (aka waiting for someone to believe me that it was NOT just the epi wearing off) was laying flat in a quiet, dark room. the anesthesiologist told me caffeine or nodoz would help but i opted to steer clear since i was bfing. i ended up having to get 2 blood patches to ressolve the issue cause i had 3 holes in my spinal cord that wereleaking fluid. hope you feel better, that smurf sucks

I just thought it was from sleep deprivation, that's why I wouldn't go away. But last night I got more sleep and woke up feeling worse. But I think all my meds wore off. I didn't get any prescriptions when I left the hospital. I thought that was weird, too.

You would know if you had an epidural headache when you lay down the headache goes away you wont have one what so ever but as soon as you sit up or stand up it is there right away and SEVERE.. I had an epidural headache and it was horrible!

This is why my sister went naturally she got chronic migraines and heard that an epi can give you some kind of side effect like this Or cause lasting damage and worse head aches. I still don't know what to do about an epi it sounds so scary and yet so helpful all at once... Good luck
