I am going to call the doctor in the morning and see if I can go in Wednesday morning to have a look-over. I want to be sure it isn't a weird growth or anything. :-/

I had something similar, but it was a tear on my inner labia. Lucas' broad ass shoulders literally split it in half   The doc on call that stitched me up did a horrible job and the stitches came out days later. I was told there was no way to stitch it up again because it's such a delicate area, with thin skin and barely any blood flow.

This last May though, one of the docs at my OB clinic attempted to fix it because the skin hung and caused so much discomfort. She had to put me under and do a full on surgery to cut each side, trim it, then stitch it back together. She did a beautiful job, but of course the stitches came out too soon, and it split again. She was able to apply some local anesthesia and cut it a bit again, and restitched it. It worked but there is still a little split in it, and there always will be. It's nowhere near as bad as it was before though

Yes, it's that piece of skin that's hanging and bothering me now that I know it's there and I am sure it's from Christopher. He had big shoulders as well. But, it's OK, he was worth it. Now, to find someone willing to lance it with maybe a little local or something would be ideal. I guess I'll be talking to my doctor sometime soon to see what might be able to be done. Should I go back to the midwifery center where I had him or maybe just see a local OB or something?

I would go to the OBGYN. I saw midwifes throughout my pregnancies, but the OB who did my surgery had more experience or specialized in medical reconstructive surgery.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I'm going to call the OB tomorrow and see what he says. Thanks for the advice. Ugh, I am so embarrassed to even call.

Oh it's a male? I don't have anything against male OBs, but when it first happened and the stitches came out leaving the flap of skin hanging I went to my OB clinic and a male doc was all that was available. He's the one that told me nothing could be done, and in 6 months I would probably forget about it and not notice it. He was so wrong. It gave me discomfort in everything I did, from walking to sex, for 2.5 years.

I would maybe try your midwife first instead, they may be able to understand the your concerns better. If not, then try the OB.

Well, the OB I see through Kaiser is a male which I've had no issues with, but I haven't seen him for issues like this...just regular pap and normal stuff. If he doesn't address the issues I want fixed, I might try a female OB and talk to the midwife and see what she thinks (where I had Chris). I don't even know if the Midwifery Center would be willing to do anything to fix it at all. I'd rather go there if I could...

That would be a good start. I have no idea if a Midwifery Center would attempt anything like that, especially if you wanted to try to get your insurance to cover it. The OB that did mine knew it was pretty much medically necessary, but also knew insurance companies don't always agree. She was awesome and worded in such a way that my insurance agreed to pay the full 80% they do on everything else.

That's one awesome OB. You've got a good point...we need insurance to cover it. I think I'll call the OB.
