Crocheting Mums.

posted 14th Jan
I'm already addicted to this smurf. I've been practicing my rows all afternoon. I've gotten a lot better than when I started, but I'm curious to know if it is normal for your rows to be crooked/wavy at first?

I love ot already, but I'm frustrated that I can't seem to get it perfect. There's always some kind of irregularity and I have to start all over again.

Oh yeah. Things will look wonky til you can get the tightness of your stitches uniform. That's what causes the lumpiness, pulling different stitches tighter than others   I'm still a super beginner but I've gotten better at it.

Does more consistent stitching just come with practice?
I'm learning completely by YouTube which is the only downfall for me. I learn so much better on a 1-on-1 basis, heh.

Yeah just keep practicing! Just keep doing rows til you make a nice long scarf or something   Hats are a little easier on the eyes because you're just going in circles so it all kinda blends together.
I'm working on a beanie right now for DH as we talk

I wanna make one for DH so bad, but every time I try to even start it I get lost
I keep telling myself patience.
So far I've made two tiny little blankets for my mice to put in their nests. At least someone is aporeciating my hard work right now

Definitely normal. As it gets longer it'll straighten out.

Okay, I feel a little more confident now, haha.
I was sitting here on the verge of tears (ooooh hormones...) thinking I was doing something wrong

They love them. My fancy, Buttercup, took hers and set it up as a door over the front of her house. My boy Rascal dragged his partially into the house. I just need to make one for my wild orphan Peanut now, haha.

Yes mam! I just started in December myself, and mine are still not perfect. It truly is addicting   I am currently working on my little boy a blanket   it'll be the first thing I ever crocheted   I mess up all the time, but I know I won't be doing it perfectly for a while!

I really wish I'd picked it up sooner. I saw a pattern for a hat with bunny ears but I am no where near being able to do anything like that yet. My double crochet is sloppy as hell, still. Haha.

I soooo know what you mean!! I definitely wish the same thing. I wanted something to kill time and asked my mom if she knew how to, and she then showed me. I haven't quite finished it or is it even close to being done, but I know it's definitely a skill worth having  . And awesome idea about the mice blankets   that is extremely cute!

If your doing just straight rows, don't forget to count. Your ends will end up all uneven if you are adding or dropping stitches too. You'll get used to how tight each stitch needs to be. Then it's just a matter or learning double crochet and half double crochet stitch. Once you learn those everything else is fairly easy. Soon enough you will be able to crochet and keep count without even looking at what your doing.
Happy crocheting!
