Days confused with nights?

posted 14th Jan
Is there a way to help baby get her nights and days regular? She sleeps SOOOO good during the day and sleeps alright during the night.

She wakes up for a while around 9 am then sleeps for a bit, wakes up to eat, falls asleep eating, (wakes up in and out to eat/be changed) wakes up to be talked to about 6-6:30 p.m. for about 45 minutes, goes to sleep, wakes up about 10-10:30 pm until about 11:30ish. She then wakes up about every hour/hour and a half to eat/be changed/talked to. She is BRIGHT eyed and bushy tailed around 3 am and will stay awake until about 5.

She is only 4 weeks old and I know it is expected, I'm not complaining. Just curious as to when they usually get their clocks on schedule.

Thanks!

We started a strict nighttime routine around 3 or 4 weeks old. LO was turned back around when he was about 2 months old.

You can make sure to keep the house bright and loud (radio, talking, don't pull the blinds for naptime, etc.) during the day, and quiet and dark at night.

With my first, I stayed up every time she was up. With my second, if he was happy, I'd put him in bed next to me (in the dark) or in his play pen/gym and go to sleep at night, awake or not (obviously I would get up if he fussed about it though).

I do all of that, other than put her in bed with me. She even sleeps through the dog barking and the train going by right out front. She startles, but goes right back to sleep.

We just always made sure we were at home by 6 pm (that was a pain sometimes, but it paid off in the end).... we usually did a bath around 7, then I would nurse or rock him until he was almost asleep, and put him down in his crib.

Sometimes it just takes awhile. My first slept through everything as well, and getting her into a routine was almost impossible. Just keep doing it. For sure in a couple months, her melatonin production will kick in and she will naturally fall into a day/night routine all by herself if nothing else works.

If you can get a routine happening.
LO has had the same routine for a few months now..
Bath at 7 and quite time after that then bed at 8..
We have the house bright during the day & tv on during the night so I can check on him lol. (no noise though, just using the light)
Same room settings, I stopped changing his nappy during the night because that woke him up & he wanted to play.. (it sounds gross but works) I of course changed it if I smelt a poo or he done one..
I make the feedings boring at night so it's just business & daytime feeds I talk to him & play with him..
Hope this helps :-)
