re: The sex talk

if it were my daughter, i would tell her straight up what sex was, but my daughter is mature for her age. i wouldn't go into great detail though.
i have had the "where do babies come from" talk with DD when she was 4 & 5. i just told her about the sperm and egg and they come together and a baby starts to grow. maybe do that, but include about private parts. i would also include that two people have sex when they love each other very much, and are old enough/married depending on your belief.
you could talk to the school counselor and see if they have an age appropriate way to tell her too.

There are books you can get that explain sex in Childrens terms without being overly detailed or graphic, maybe it would be an idea to ask the local library or even if the school know of any resources? That way she's not getting any misinformation and not too much knowledge? If its something you do together she may also feel its not something to be ashamed of in anyway and she's more.likely to come to u in the future x good luck x

We bought a book from the thrift store that was pretty graphic. We bought out for shock value and didn't think anyone would believe us! Out had makemommy and daddy in the shower together, and in bed...I mean this book was written to be aimed at young kids. If I'm going to get that in detail I don't think I'll show her pics! Like in the bed you couldn't see their body but dad wad on mom. It wad cool though cuz it also went into pregnancy too.

Yeah I agree some can be pretty graphic. I think you'd have to shop around to find one that explains just the bits you want your child knowing. I think they're brilliant tho, putting it in a format that children understand x
