Medicaid

posted 14th Jan
My friends keep telling me that I should try to get on it but I don't think that will happen. DH and I will be making almost 2000 a month and as far as I know that is to much to be on that but they keep telling me we can get on it anyways but I don't think so...

Does anyone know the limits on that by chance?

It varies by state, but I do know, the limit for myself and son is around $1500-1600 monthly. How many people do you have in your household? The more you have, the higher the limit is.

Three. My friends seem to think that since DH and I are living with my mother that means we should qualify and no matter how many times I have explained to them that we are separate households they insist that we can get it because we live with my mom. I am like we are paying rent for the room we live in... That would be like renting a room in someone elses house and trying to count them all as one.

depends on your state. are you pregnant? it's a little easier for pregnant women.

well, I do know it will be harder if your living with parents.
I was making $450-600 monthly when I lived with my mom and was denied for both my son and I for medicaid.. they will include her income, weather or not she pays for anything for you. I even had letters stating she didn't pay my bills, copies of my bills, etc. It took me 90 days after I moved to even get approved for medicaid.. and then it didn't start for another 30 days after that.

why dont you go to the local office and ask them? they can tell you. you wont lose much more than just some time and gas by going to apply and find out. you may be over the limit but you dont know til you try. they count in your rent, utulities and child care when figuring about your income.

Texas is very forthcoming with their information. All over the website you can find what you qualify for, you can even "pseudo" apply, and it will tell you if they thing you have anything worth pursuing.

For a family size of 3 your annual income needs to be below $18,530. Per Texas Medicaid brochure that I found on the Internet. That comes out to $1544 a month.

Though I would believe the one who lives in Texas.

And living with your mom may cause a little bit of problems.

I don't see why it would cause issue though because we are paying rent to her. It would be just like renting a room in a house because that is exactly what we are doing.

They can count her income into yours, even if you are paying your own bills and rent. I went through this myself when I lived with my mom, who mind you, made less than what I did.
