What to do???...

posted 14th Jan
So I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow because I haven't had a period since August 29th (139 days) and I don't know where to start. DH said he wants to start trying this month, but HOW? I have no period, so therefore, I'm not ovulating. They say I have PCOS...
So should I ask for Metformin and Provera? Provera and Clomid? All three???

I'm not sure where to start.

Anyone else deal with this? What did you do?
For the above drugs, has anyone had success quickly??

They may give u progesterone to induce your periods. Do u have high sugar levels? My dr said typically metformin is ideal for women with increased blood sugar due to pcos. They probably wouldn't start with everything at once. And some drs make u try a yr before they'll give u anything. They might work on your periods first.

I would say that your doctor probably has the best advice for you. Just talk to them when you go.

I doubt they will give you a bunch of meds right away. They'll want to run a bunch of tests and make sure it is pcos and then decide what route you want to go because there are many options. I have pcos and got pregnant twice while on a birth control pill and the first time I was on metformin.

We've been trying off and on for over 3 years. We stopped "trying" (weren't preventing, just not using OPKs or anything in April...we've not been preventing for over 4 years).

They keep trying to shove birth control in my face. I tried Met for a month 2 years ago but it made me TMI, poop a lot.
The birth control they gave me wasn't working btw and I can't take a full dose pill because of my migraines...

I've had ultrasounds, hormone tests, uterine biopsies, etc. done already.

Oh, and my sugar's fine. My insulin was high once but not since then.
But I know that that can vary day-to-day.

One of my docs said to lose 10% of my body weight and it should fix itself. I have and still nothing. I won't be seeing her tomorrow though. I'll be seeing another lady, one that offered Met the last time and said we'd try Clomid, but I honestly was afraid to use it.

Damn really? And they don't have a definite answer yet? They did some intense blood work for me but that was it and I got diagnosed that way. Hopefully they figure it out.

The lady I see tomorrow said it was PCOS, I guess I've been in denial and trying to "fix" it myself or wait it out...but my cycles just keep getting longer and longer.

Yeah you'll wanna get a plan with your dr. They might try to induce and regulate periods with progesterone. That's what they did for me. Then once I was able to have a period on my own (still long cycles like 45 days) they had me track everything and physically try ttc. Before we had just done the not prevent and see if it happens method. Then I started focusing on dieting and eating healthy and lost 20 lbs while taking clomid and bam. Preg.

Man well maybe the best thing for you would be kind of a trial and error type deal. See what works and what doesn't work. I never have tracked my periods but I remember going months without one and then it would.come.on and I would bleed for a month straight. What about birth control have you ever been on one? They put me on it when I was 15 and its the only thing that keeps my periods regular.

Yeah, I've lost almost 40 pounds since they said that it should help.

The last time I took Provera (progesterone), it didn't make me start within the 3 weeks. Maybe I need a higher dose?

I've been on Ortho, Ortho-Lo, Alesse, Nuva Ring, the patch, the IUD, the shot, the mini-pill, more pills that I can't remember (was on them from the age of 14). I think that's why the stuff didn't start until later, after kids.

Hmm. Idk. The thing with clomid is If you don't know when u ovulate you don't know when to take clomid. I knew when I was ovulating because when my dr had me trying actively I was mega tracking everything. I figured out when I was ovulating and then when I started clomid I knew exactly when to take it.

Why are you afraid of clomid? It kind of backfired on me. Accomplished it's goal but caused me a lot of preg complications
