my sister-in-law had severe sudden onset pre-e with her first pregnancy, had a miscarriage with her second (idk why, but it wasn't pre-e), and then a perfectly normal pregnancy with her third.

Honestly, it's a 50/50 chance, whether you've had it before or not... but I'd think you'd be more likely to get it again if you had it with the first pregnancy.

She could have died she went through pain and suffering that could have been avoided etc., she could sue though most hospital, you wont get anywhere with the suit. And I have to give urine and have my BP checked at every single apt. I have to give them that, and then go back out to the waiting room before I even see my OB. And it's been every single apt. So that right there alone doesn't sound right about their practice. Consult of course first. And they'll tell you what you can sue for and what's a waste of time. Sorry for your suffering, and good luck with your new LO.

After you have it once, then your chances are increased for having it again. I had it very severely with DD. I had to deliver via c-section at 34 weeks and DD will be 2 in 2 weeks and I still suffer from health issues because of the pre-e, one being high BP. So, if I were to get pregnant again I would be high risk because if you have high BP, your chances for pre-e are higher. I've had it before, I still have high BP, so that means my chances of getting it again are really high.

So they never made you pee in a cup at your appointments???? What your saying just doesn't add up. The nurses would be aware of your condition as well as the doctors. If it was slowly building up they would have caught it. It sounds to me like you just had it come on suddenly.

ALso Pre E is common in first pregnancies and it isn't likely that you will get it ith your next ones but you are more likely to get it than someone who never had it. I have done a ton of research because I had it come on suddenly but not severe at 39 weeks.

I had it come on suddenly at almost 37 weeks. I was fine the week before ( i had weekly visits due to GD)

Also this is how pre e was explained to me. If you have a second baby after having pre e with the SAME dad, your chances of getting it again increase. But if you get pregnant a second time by a DIFFERENT dad than your chances decrease. I thought it sounded strange

That's weird! Well darn...   Im screwed then according to that! I have been looking into how to prevent it because I want to increase my chances of a VBAC in all ways possible. and Ive found the Brewers diet! You should look into it if you want to avoid getting it again! Its basically a high protein, well balanced diet. and they recommend you take a magnesium/calcium supplement with a 2:1 ration, and a fish oil supplement.

The Brewers diet is suppose to help because with pre eclampsia they think its from not having enough protein in your diet so your body breaks something(I cant remember what it was) down to get the protein and it ends up passing into the urine (can't remember how though). I know the kidneys aren't made to filter protein into the urine..

No they never made me pee in a cup at all my appointments. I'm sorry you don't think this ads but I'm not sure why I would fib about something that was so serious and could have been potentially fatal to myself and my baby boy.

I never said you fibbed! I said what you were saying didn't add up! There is no reason a doctor would ignore your symptoms like you suggest... How would that benefit his practice? All I'm saying is it probably came on suddenly an they didn't ignore you or choose not to treat you/recognize your issues on purpose.

And if they never made you pee in a cup then I guess ATON of their patients go in diagnosed with numerous things. At every appointment they should be checking for bacteria, protein and sugar....

Sorry I thought that's what you were getting at..! I'm not sure though, he told me the swelling was normal and not to worry about it and since he was the doctor not me I assumed what he said was probably true. And after what had happened with me I'm assuming that too but oddly I've never heard anything bad about my ob before this. I'm just not happy with him and definitely switching OB's for the next pregnancy. Sorry I assumed you thought I was fibbing..!!

I only peed in a cup once when I did bloodwork..!!
My OB I had at the very beginning of my pregnancy before I moved back to my home city made me pee at every appt. But when I switched I didn't think nothing of it because it had been nothing but good reviews on my new OB..

Now that I've been through it and am high risk and know what's normal and what's not I'm definitely g oing to be keeping my eyes open for the next time..!

Yeah I would definitely switch if they weren't monitoring your urine at every appointment. That to me is crazy! I think even midwives do that!

My pre e came on suddenly and it wasn't even bad. They called it PRE pre eclampsia lol I had swelling but it was the normal pregnancy swelling. I had 3+ protein in my urine and my bp was high at 140s/90s which really wasn't that bad. They decided to induce me -which I regret now!! If I knew what I know now I would've never done it. They could've done a 24 hr urine sample before they did all that. I never needed magnesium or anything but they may be because I got the epidural and it drops your bp but I still didn't get that until 15 hours after they induced me. My bp stayed around the same the whole time until I got the epidural.

I'm worried about getting it with my next pregnancies too so I've been doing research on the brewers diet. Eat more protein!! lol
