yep like the 2 cases I know of...one being DHs nieces kids, and another his best friends kids.
Terrible, blows my mind that the kids are 1 still alive and 2 in their care.

Oh I already think the country has a terribly corrupt system, but I'm not getting into that debate now, lol.

Quoting LeTs*StArT*a*RiOt!:" The jail system is why I think all drugs should be legalized. Think of how fewer inmates we'd have if we legalized drugs. It's astounding how many people are in jail for stupid, petty stuff. "
And they go in for minor offenses and learn how to be REAL criminals. Go in for posession, meet the bad influences, get out, go back in for rape or manslaughter, if not straight out murder.
It doesn't always happen, but it definitely happens more than it should. We have a "warning" system to stop people being charged with possesion in NZ, for marijuana anyway. Seems to be working okay, it's at the cops discretion who they warn and who they arrest.

But since studies have show decriminalizing drugs doesn't increase drug usage, if your parents were going to do drugs, they were going to drugs regardless of whether is was legal or not.

They need to get rid of the 3 strikes law.

Completely agree with you there. Put someone away the FIRST time they rape or assault someone, they shouldn't get what basically equals to 3 chances to do the same offense.

No, I mean people get 3 chances to screw up. Once they get their third jailable offense, they're sentenced to life.

We talked about it in sociology. There was a kid who stole a bike as his third offense and now he's in jail for the rest of his life. It's a bit ludicrous.

No I don't think it should be legal there is enough diseases floating around. No I wouldn't call the cops or cps on her unless it's effecting me and my family.

Holy crap, I read that it was like that for MAJOR offenses like assault, not minor stuff like stealing! That's ridiculous! Life in jail for stealing a BIKE?

If it was legalized and regulated, the women involved would have better and easier access to birth control and STD testing, to keep them and their customers clean. Same as porn stars.

People always get around things. No matter how much regulation there is.

Which means the same percent of people as before will probably get a disease. There are MANY prostitutes who are more concerned with their sexual health, and would benefit from it being legal and regulated. You can get diseases from not having sex for profit, diseases is kind of a moot point when it comes to why shouldn't it be legal...

Honestly, these women do not deserve to be in prison for making a choice to have sex for money. It's a personal choice, it should not be illegal.

Yeah the ones that are concerned about their health the ones that are not on hardcore drugs. The problem with making it legal is that everyone is going to want to do it. It's easy money then you have kids in school that are going to want to grow up to be prostitutes because hey it's easy money. Especially these fast girls are now a days.

There ARE countries with prostitution legalized. Pretty sure not everyone in those countries are spreading their legs for benjamins.   I think that's a HORRIBLE generalization, and if it's that bad where you are, then I seriously feel bad for the girls there... And even if they are as bad as that, that is their personal choice... why do we think we have any right to tell someone what they can or cannot do with their own body. SUICIDE is illegal. Suicide. Seriously, can we get more personal?

Making it legal keeps them from clogging up the jails. Which saves tax dollars, since jail gives them shelter and 3 square meals a day, tv and rec time, showers, a bed, etc. All on state/federal dollars. I'd rather it be legal and not be paying for them to have shelter and meals in the long run when they end up in jail for it being illegal. Jail should be for serious offenses. Not personal body choices.
