I think it would depend on where they kept the dog while the day care was in business and what kind of measures were in place to keep the dog away from the kids.

But that would go for any big dog.

This is what I'm thinking she meant. I think she meant to put pit.

And if I met the dog first and saw it's temperament, yes, the breed has nothing to do with it, I would meet any dog and see it's temperament before letting my child go there. Labs attack people too.

Why? The breed of dog has nothing to do with it, it's the owners. Labs and golden retrievers have attacked people too. Hell, a jack russell killed a baby before.

Jack Russell's are vicious dogs too and I wouldn't want one around my kid either.

Same with any dog that has been bred over generations to hunt small prey.

No dog is born vicious, it's all due to how it's raised.

I like pit bulls.. And I have nothing against them, I just PREFER not to have my kid in a day care with one or animals at all for that matter lol. I don't do home day cares anyways..

Uh...no. Genetics play a pretty large part. There are breeds that are just born aggressive. Dogs have personalities just like humans and there are traits that tend to show in certain breeds more than others...just like there are traits passed down through human families. Like aggression. Which is why jack Russell's are used to fight cocks and pits are bred to fight each other.

Where did she say it was because he was a pitbull? Are we really going to make this into some pro-pitbull bullsmurf when we don't even know what the OP was asking?

I wouldn't want any dog around my kid at daycare age.

So? What is your point here? How could you possibly know how the hypothetical dog in this situation was raised? You don't know it, you can feed your kid to dogs all day long. Some people prefer not to risk harm to their child while they're at work.

Okay, the way you said it made it seem like you wouldn't just because it was a pit bull. I love them and grew up with two and they were the sweetest, most gentle and well-behaved dogs. And they were excellent with small children! Dh and I are getting a pit puppy awhile after our second child is born!

Yeah it's just my preferences I prefer not to have my child in a home day care, and i prefer not to have my child in a day care with animals etc.. I have nothing against pit bulls my SO use to have one they are pretty friendly and I haven't had any bad experiences with them. It wasn't JUST because of the dog lol.
