Hernia caused by pregnancy, not healing?? :/

When I was pregnant with DD2, I developed a hernia. It was quite obvious, it would bulge if I were laying down & tried to get up. My doctor assured me it would go away after DD's birth.
After DD was born, the skin on my abdomen was kind of tender to the touch. I chalked it up to the hernia & figured it would go away with time, even fabric like a towel bothered it..Here we are 5 weeks PP & this morning I noticed the area to the left of my naval is VERY tender to touch. Even if DD brushes it with her foot it hurts. I'm not sure if this is still due to the hernia or what? Has anybody ever experienced this or even had the same hernia caused by pregnancy that healed? I don't know if I should be concerned or not... TIA

A hernia will not "heal". It's a rip and hole in your abdominal muscles and fascia. It needs to be repaired with mesh to keep your bowel/Intestines from going through the hole. If left untreated it could get very bad and larger.
