Colicky

posted 14th Jan
I was wondering at what age could you tell if your infant was colicky or not?

Out of all four of my kids only one had colic, my first. He was 1 wk old when I knew for sure and it is the reason I didn't have another child till he was 10 yrs old.

I knew when DD was about a week and a half and her doctor confirmed. She had it until 10 months old.

And what are the signs to look for? My son is 2 months old today and for the past 2 weeks, he has been constantly crying. He goes to sleep for 10mins and then he is awake again crying. I changed his diaper and tried feeding him but he spits out the bottle and passy. I changed his formula to the Gerber Good Start Sooth and its seemed to help a little but not much.

if they get fussy around the same times everyday. also not being able to soothe them. but try getting up and walking and bouncing baby. or, and i hate to say it, a car ride. you have to do what you have to do to survive.

Usually they tend to cry the same time everyday for hours. My son cried from 4:30pm to 9-10 EVERY night. It's really hard to tell with gassy babies. Is he really gassy?

to tell if your baby is just gassy; try sitting down and reclining a bit and holding your baby like simba (but his feet still on your stomach) just enough so his body is nice and stretched out. if he calms down, it's probably gas. also, if he seems to retract his legs or he is fussy 30 minutes after a feeding it is most likely gas. Which can be just as much fun as colic!
homeopathic remedies; gripe water, colic calm

He was really gassy, not so much anymore. I had my son on 11/14. My best friend had her daughter on 12/1 also.

Congrats to you both! If he is crying nonstop at the same time everyday it very well maybe colic. Not a lot you can do for it.... I think mule on drops and gripe water just give me false hope. A lot of mommies swear by it though. The football hold while walking or the bounce walk twist maybe lil sometime a warm tub. Swaddling tightly. It's all trial and error but most will only console for a minute.
