I still munch out on chocolate when I'm having a craving. I didn't know OJ can kill them too. Explains why I have such intense OJ cravings

I get what your saying... and as I stated before I am a smoker, I have cut down drastically and will continue to cut down because it's not in my baby's best interest to continue smoking. The original post did state something to the effect of "I cut down in the beginning but have found myself smoking just as much as before I found out" not word for word obviously because this is a very long posting and I have read every ones reply. I understand people's frustrations as she didn't say she wanted to cut down.. rather was looking for some type of condoning that she smoked as much as she does, and reassurance that her baby is going to be okay. Honestly no one can give her that reassurance... we don't know how her baby will be. As I stated previously, mine were healthy however I cut down drastically. Again I will state that I understand the anger and frustration in the tones of these posts... I just tried with my post to offer her advice... cut down, as much as she can... if she can, quit all together which is 100% better... I know I haven't been able to thus far but maybe I will have better luck with this pregnancy. good luck ladies!

Ok so I can tell a lot of people think I was casual with my first o posting, but I wasn't and I just was expecting a few answers from some people but of course it created a bunch of heat. I want to make it clear that I love my daughter and I am struggling and was hoping maybe someone could post something that helped them quit easier so that I could try it. Since yesterday I have managed to cut down and instead when inter a craving I just throw back a few tic tacs or gum that's super minty and then I just forget that I even want a cigarette. Today I only smoked three compared to my everyday 6 at the most. And Yes someone had asked me if SO smokes, yes he smokes and he hates the fact that I do it so he is very strict with me now knowing I made a new decision to try much harder. I do apologize if I seem like a bitch, but I didn't mean to upset anyone. I'm still a human being and I do care for my daughter and feel very guilty against the decision I made to even pick back up..but I really don't deserve the treatment I got from this forum, but anyway hopefully with some of you ladies we can start over.

I used an ecig to quit. Not the little disposable ones from the gas station, those are crap. We have an actual store here that sells the reusable ones. It is still nicotine, but there's none of the added chemicals in cigarettes. So it's like using the patch but you still feel like you're smoking. I used it for two weeks and then I just didn't want it anymore and never touched it again. I wasn't having such a hard time with the nicotine withdraw as I was missing the act of smoking because it was tied into so many things in my life. The ecig helped me transition because I still felt like I was smoking. It really made it easy to quit. When I tried to quit cold turkey the first 2 or 3 times it was the worst couple of days of my life. Using that ecig for 2 weeks and then dropping it, I almost had no withdraw symptoms at all. They're about $40 and the oil is cheap. A lot cheaper than cigarettes, patch or the gum. I know 10 or 15 people who have used them to quit. They really are helpful. They take a little adjusting to the first day or so, but I still stand by that thing being the best $40 I ever spent.

MOST of what was said on here wasn't at you from what I got. It was to the ladies saying smoking isn't bad etc. etc.

I'm glad you decided to take some of the information and suggestions on here to heart and are trying a little bit harder. Your original post made it seem like you were all "welp, it's too hard so I'll just pretend there is no kid in there and keep it moving". I'm glad you made that decision.

Also, when I quit, every time I wanted a ciggarette I cleaned. I cleaned the smurf out of everything. When I got all jittery and couldn't sit still, I didn't try to sit still. I kept myself moving and occupied with things that I normally would rather die before doing - cleaning out closets and whatnot. You CAN do it.

You should ask your SO to give up smoking with you. If he honestly cares that much, that he's trying to be strict on you, he wouldn't be doing it right under your nose, ya know? It's the best thing you can both do for your babies health, not just for right now, but forever. Good luck.

My mother smoked from the age of 13, until she gave it up at 48. So for 35 years... and she just gave up cold turkey one day. That was a year before I fell pregnant with my first baby. I think she knew it was coming & she wanted to be around for it. She's coming up to almost 7 years smoke free & waiting on grandbaby #3 & #4 to be born this year.

I've never been addicted to anything, so I don't know firsthand how hard it is but for her to just do that after so long, like she was just getting rid of the trash in her life.... I guess that's why I don't buy the excuses that it's too hard... nothing worth fighting for is TOO hard, IMO.

she wasnt that early, i had her at 37 weeks & 3 days. babies grow at different rates & no, shes not small than the average baby. she's perfect size. At 38 weeks, the average baby weighs 6 pounds & 3 ounces, according to baby center.com

Since 40 wks is full term, 37 wks is technically early, just not early enough to be considered pre-term where they try and stop your labor (which correct me if I'm wrong but don't they still stop you at 36 wks?) crucial brain development accurs in those last few months.

I think past 35 weeks they wont stop you depending on the circumstance.

Here they stop trying to stop your labor once you reach 35-36 weeks.

Yeah I know every hospital is different I just couldn't remember when the average was..just that 37 wks wasn't past it by much.

Why post here that you smoke, other than to start more arguments or get bitched at. Don't smoke. Blah blah. You're lucky your kids are fine. etc.,
