Quoting willoughfam:" Exact same thing happened to my son. He was running down the fall carrying a plastic teapot and fell ... [snip!] ... when a child holds their breath and passes out, they start to breathe again. Tell her to talk to his doctor about it though."
Quoting L&B +1:" The first time he did this he hadnt fallen...His sister took a toy away from him and he started crying ... [snip!] ... After he had fallen was the 2nd time. She said he cries so hard he holds his breath and then passes out for a minute from it "MY BIL did this when he was young. He would get so mad that he would hold his breath till he passed out, there was nothing anyone did to calm him down he was just pass out ad wake up a few seconds late fine. I would have her talk to the doctor about it, its not healthy for him at such a young age. My BIL s now 23 I think and has some major anger issues, he is out of control.
Quoting L&B +1:" That is exactly what I told her, he starts breathing as soon as he passes out. So freakin scary, sorry you guys had to go through that!! Eeek. She will definitely talk to the dr"

Quoting K[♥ E&C]:" It's a fairly common thing for little kids to be so upset they hold their breath. There isn't actually ... [snip!] ... out of it." She can if she wants, it's a pretty big waste of a trip though unless she seriously thinks something is wrong."
Quoting K[♥ E&C]:" Also it is not something that happens on purpose. It is actually an involuntary reaction to being so ... [snip!] ... lot easier for someone to tell you to breath then to actually register and tell yourself to breath. I out grew it when I was 8."
Quoting L&B +1:" My brother did that too and now that I think about it, he has some anger issues as well. He would do ... [snip!] ... She definitely needs to talk to his pedi about it tomorrow, but I have a feeling theres not much shes going to be able to do"
Quoting TheyCallMeMOMMY♥:" Ya, thats what happens. When a baby or child s crying its usually cause they are upset, and crying so ... [snip!] ... Im not saying all kids who are like this will grow up to have anger issues, this is just the case with BIL....Just o clarify."
