SIDS Age?

posted 14th Jan
At what age does the risk for SIDS go down in a child.

My son is 18 months and I STILL worry about it, although I don't know that I should be.

TIA.

I just read something the other day that said differently, but the risk of SIDS is basically all gone at 6 months, and I don't think an unexplained death can be described as SIDS after 12 months

I think it's 6 months. My friend's 11 month old daughter recently passed from SIDS, though. So sad.

I think up till 12 months, but I could be wrong.

My best friend is still afraid of SIDS with her dd, and she checks on her at least every 30-1 hr every night, her dd is 7.5 yrs old. Some ppl just fear it more then others. But dont work yourself up about it.

Your lo is old enough to turn their head if something was wrong.

And also, I'm really sorry. I realized I could have googled this. Haha. I had to call into work this morning so I'm not all "with it" and posted this before I even thought of Google.

I dont think there is an specific age but I think is after a year but it can happend at any time even after a year. Is better just to check your child as much as you can.

SUND......Sudden unexplained Nocturnal death. Happens in older children, more adults then children usually males over females and a certain ethnic group over another. And ppl who suffer from sleep paralisis.

It happens less often, but it still exists.

Right so it isn't called "sudden infant death" anymore! It's so terrifying though.... I wish I could function on no sleep so I could keep a better watch on DD

DD is 4.5 and I STILL check on her 1 or 2 times a night.
I have such bad anxiety regarding SIDS and it completely scares the utter crap out of me. We will be trying for a baby in about 10 months and I'm already thinking and freaking out about it. It is such an awful awful thing. </3

at 6 months the risks go down alot but my son will be 2 next month and i still check up on him constantly through the night especially since he likes to sleep with a blanket over his head. I think as a mother you always worry about your children while there sleeping and no matter how old they get i probably will always get up during the night to check up on them.
