What's the best thermometer?

I've had an old old old ear thermometer and it quit working the other day, I recently purchased a $10 one that is for your temple. I thought it would be good, but it being $10 made me kinda worried that it wouldn't. It worked for a whole two days, said the battery was low. I replaced them with brand new batteries and still said low and shut off. I need to know a good one to buy for my daughter. Preferably an ear thermometer, I don't care about price. Just one that is going to be as accurate as possible and won't quit working when I need it!

i saw our pediatrician using a braun ear thermometer, and noticed they had coupons in the office...so thats what i bought. Seems to work well.

Braun works well. My sons godmother has had hers for ages! Advice, don't buy the Vicks forehead thermometer. Huge waste of $30. Wasn't accurate at all no matter what we did.
