Just some questions

posted 13th Jan
So, me and my fiancé have decided to start TTC and I want to know all odds and ends. Like when I buy an ovulation test which is the best to buy. And stuff like that. And also what type of pregnancy test to use. What should I have and buy in the steps of trying to get pregnant. My first child wasnt planned so I just want some help choosing the right brands and things other people did while TTC. Thanks ladies

I didnt bother with any of that. I had some FRER tests and we just had a lot of sex. Took 4 months.

seeing how you don't seam to have a problem getting pregnant don't worry about the ovulation test and just have fun...just keep in mind that to much fun does lower the sperm count =)

If you're starting out just have sex lots of it and have fun. I wouldn't go all out on ttc'ing stuff until a few months down the road. Best of luck!!

If you want to learn about your cycle and fertility signs and whatnot, start by reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Dollar store pregnancy tests are just as good as $15 tests. Digital tests are less sensitive than regular ones. First Response Early Response are the most sensitive. http://peeonastick.com has lots of information about the different pregnancy test brands, and also about OPK's. But I wouldn't worry about the OPK's. If you really want to know when you're going to ovulate, learn about your fertility signs and save the money on the kits.
Really, what everyone else said is pretty valid. But since you said you wanted to know everything, I thought I'd let you know where to start.

We found that ovulation predictors didn't seem like they were working for us...... so basically, I couldn't 11-14days from the first day of my period & we had sex every day for the next week! lol I figured, we would find the window eventually! And it worked very well, twice! Got pregnant right away both times w/out really trying.

I liked the digital pregnancy tests best b/c it gave you a straight forward yes/no. I used the line one before and sometimes you'd get confusing semi-lines, no lines, sorta-maybe-not-really lines.... too much hassle.

One good thing is if you're about to start TTC in earnest, I would start taking prenatals NOW. It's never too early to get your vitamins in.... especially the folic acid!

GOOD LUCK!
