Picture ladies.

So... I know these pictures are screwed but I don't know exactly what it is that I'm messing up.

Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

What would have been a better setting for these types of shots.

Thanks.

I don't know anything about taking pics but I just wanted to say I really like the first one.

Thanks! That's what is killing me. I feel like they had potential, they could have been really awesome, if I only knew my camera and such.

<--Late.

But another thing I forgot to tell you about is composition. Pretty much how you compose the picture. haha.
You want to stay away from having people or objects centered.
Here's a good article. But they're definitely good. Maybe bring up the exposure just a tad bit and contrast up a tad bit. And I noticed on the first one he has a little motion blur so a faster shutter speed a little bit. And what was the f/ stop at? It looks like 3.5 or higher? I'd bring that down a little bit. To like 2.2 or so.

Thanks! I'll play around with the changes you suggested. Maybe I will start a 365, if I don't I think I might get down on myself about it, Kwim. I may motivate me. I'd hate to have a nice camera and not be able to use it. So, by this time next year I must be adequate...ha, I'm such a realist.

Dude. A 365 helps SO much. It pushes you. Especially if you do it in all manual. Because you learn more from your mistakes and you're pushed to take pictures every day.

I'm convinced. I think I'll just start a new album in photobucket and do it there.
I've been trying really hard not to switch off manual. I honestly don't like the look of the auto pics anyway, at least not for me.

Flickr is good too because it will show you your camera settings and disable right clicks.

I don't know if I know how to be harsh. Because I HATED hearing harsh critiques when I was starting.   I'll give friendly CC. haha
