Scenario

posted 13th Jan
You are FB friends with some of your spouses old friends. One in particular has been through at least five girlfriends since you've known him (so in a year) Each time, he is always head-over-heels "in love" with them.
About a month ago, he met someone and now they're not only engaged, but are head-first into planning their wedding that will happen in just nine months. (no, she's not pregnant)
So, she friends you only because you're friends with her now fiance. She is about to be nineteen and he has just turned twenty-four.
You befriend her and she's nice and whatnot. you try to help when asked about opinions on things etc.
They live in one state (not in yours) but are getting married in a third state. You are invited to the wedding and she asks you a few nights ago for your address so they can mail out your invitation.
Today, she asks your opinion on when they should do their registry. Then, she says she needs to know if you are coming or not since they have the place booked. You reply with you are not sure yet so lets just go with no but you will still try to be there.
She then says to you "and we decided on no kids, sorry..."

Would you think the way she went about that was smurffy or....?

Yeah, I said "definitely no then." She tried apologizing. I just think she could have gone about it in a better way.

It kind of depends on how she said it. If it was on FB, that's rude in itself because she should have the decency to call. If she actually did call, it depends on her tone of voice and all that.

She sounds like a typical 19 year old with no experience in those situations, you know? You learn those kinda of etiquettes as you mature and get experience..clearly she doesn't have much of either

Exactly. That's why I didn't say anything back other than I wasn't going to go out of state for a wedding and leave my son for it.

Yeah, I'm not going to go out of my way and spend an ass load of money to go to a weeding out of state. I thought the bride and groom are supposed to pay for guests to fly in if it's out of state?

I'm not sure. My brother had his wedding in CT and didn't pay squat for anything. But if someone couldn't make it he didn't make a big deal about it. I didn't bother with any of that crap, I eloped lol.

I'm a good ways away from CT and I'm just not going to leave my child with someone to go to a wedding of two people I've never met and one person Dh hasn't spoken to in a long time.

pet peeve #3 when it comes to weddings, needing to know the RSVP before you even get an invite or have sent it back. <Understandable if you haven't sent it back and it's a week before the wedding.

It's her wedding if no kids is what she wants then that's her deal. But honestly she needed to have her registry done, and have stated on the invites NO KIDS, before they even sent them out. I wouldn't be offended by what she said, but it's still smurfy is she is saying it to you on FB and not the invitation they sent out. I'd feel like she was targeting me or something.

I guess they haven't even sent out the invitations yet. I have no idea because they have documented on FB every single thing pertaining to the wedding planning including her turning into a bridezilla, or so she says. She said the only children there will be the flower girl and her two brothers. If it was a super fancy wedding, sit down dinner etc, I could understand a lot more. They're having a buffet and I think she could have just gone about it in a much better way than she did. She has my number.

Yeah, she could have. I'm sure if I said anything to him, she would turn around and try to bitch me out. I have a feeling she's one of those girls.
