My dog is driving me nuts

posted 13th Jan
I have a three and a half year old toy poodle, his name is Shortie and he is like my child. My husband bought him for me as a birthday present when he was four months old and he has always been a mommas boy. As my pregnancy has progressed he has gotten more and more clingy but now it is horrible. The other night my husband had to take me to the hospital because I was having contractions that were 4-5 minutes apart. While I was at home with my children waiting for my husband to get home Shortie was laying on the couch with me my six year old was sitting next to me rubbing my back when she hit my stomach and it hurt pretty bad (of course I said ouch) and Shortie went off. He started barking and growling at her and getting in her face. Shortie has never been an aggressive dog, even when my son was a baby he would let him do whatever he wanted to him. No matter how much they would pull his hair or his ears he would not even sanp at them. Now he doesnt even want my husband to kiss me, and he will not leave my side. I have to shower with the bathroom door open so he can come in and check on me, he will only go outside if I take him, if I sleep late he will stay in bed with me, and he lays as close to me as possible even if it means laying under or on me. When I was pregnant with my daughter my moms cat did this but only for like a week before I went into labor and she was the worst the morning I went into labor. Does anyone think I should take this as a sign that it will be here soon?

my dog is the same way right now except for the aggressiveness...
she is always sleeping on my legs or feet (shes a lab mix so shes a bit bigger) and as soon as DH leaves the room she goes under the covers to sleep right by my back or stomach until i get up. she lays in front of the shower when i shower and follows me to the bathroom.
she usually likes her own space and no touching when we sleep. i mean she wouldnt mouth off, but she would move the second you ask her. now you can push and pull and she will not budge a single inch from my side.
it probably wouldnt be so annoying if DH wouldnt have to leave for work at 4AM some mornings and she ALWAYS steps on my hair when she tries to scoot closer. hurts like hell. >.<

All but one of my dogs are like that right now (due in June with #3) and with my first daughter my 7 year old german shepherd was the same, driving me completely crazy! Don't fret! He was actually the best kids' dog I've ever had. All of the animals sense it, all of the horses I work with treat me completely differently when I'm pregnant (I have 2 of my own, manage a herd of 17, and work in the thoroughbred industry). Animals are very intuitive and they can often sense changes in you before you can. Perhaps your poodle knows that you might need a little pet therapy and some downtime even though you might not know it yet?

We actually have a nine month old german shephered and they get along very well last night they actually got into a full out fight where I had to scream to break them up. They have both been acting so weird here latley. I woke up this morning and Shortie was sitting like maybe a foot away from my face just staring at me, I fell back asleep and when I woke back up he was taking up more of my pillow than I was and again he was just staring. Got up to go to the bathroom and of course he followed me and layed there watching and I think I may h ave passed some of my plug I didnt really say anything about it but he has made sure to touch me all day today even if its just his leg. I wish I could have this baby already so my dogs would go back to normal.
