Not at all. My oldest was in the nicu and I pumped for him..after he got home he couldn't latch..I continued to pump but it didn't last long.

I nursed my youngest until almost 20 months..but this pregnancy made my milk dry up.

I wish I could've nursed my oldest...but he's happy and healthy and that's all that matters in the end.

I know what you mean, I only made it about 4wks with my son and the last couple we were supplementing more than bfing. I'm feeling guilty about a lot though lol, being more prepared for this one, wanted to get maternity pics but I didn't have them done with my first so I felt bad. I think its a common theme with raising you next child...the first is essentially your guinea pig.

Wanted to bf my oldest, but emergency situations and me being out for 24+ hours after recovery caused me to not be able to. Second was so close to my first (13 months apart) that my doctors completely advised me not to bf her   I'm currently 4 1/2 months into ebf my third and absolutely wish I could/would have been able to bf the other two. But she is ebf (no bottle) so I think it's making up for not being able to. It's such a great feeling I'll tell you that much

My first, I didn't know if I wanted to do it or not, and I didn't think it would be hard. I didn't ask for help in the hospital, and he was just given a bottle after he was born anyhow. I tried to BF him when we got home, and he wouldn't latch - he just yelled at my boob and cried, we were both frustrated. I had a hand pump and he was fed boobie milk for a few days - but that's it. I didn't pump often enough so my supply diminished. Sucks, too, cause i had A LOT.

I really want to BF this baby and I'm going to try my hardest, ask for help right away, etc. My (first) son is healthy, I don't feel a reason to feel guilty over it.

definitely agree. there's lots of things i want to do different this time, no matter how small they may be. it was hard with my first, IMO because i was living with my parents and they watched LO while I worked and pretty much did what the hell they wanted regardless.

Thanks for all of the replies ladies!!! I know having a baby makes you full of all kinds of emotions but I figured I'd ask if that would be one of the things I'd go through. It makes sense that the first baby is a guinea pig lol because I know I'll be way more prepared for my second. I'll know what to expect.

No, not at all, guilty about what?

I couldn't/didn't BF my first, I BF my new baby for the first 4 weeks, not guilt here..

I wasn't even going to try this time around because of what I went through with my first, but, I did it.
