Acid reflux... HELP!
posted 13th Jan
My son is 4 months and has horrible acid reflux. He is very slow to gain weight but he is gaining some. He is on meds, uses a danny sling, on a sensitive formula and I put rice in his bottles and I dont hold him or move him after he eats. He still throws up horribly all day and night. Anything different work for you? I really need some new ideas!

The only thing that really worked was getting on a hypo allergenic formula

We had to switch to soy and that helped a TON.

The formula he is currently on is for lactose intolerence. We have tried tommy tippee, similac, platex and even the cheap bottles and none seem to help. Its not just a little spit up... He vomits the majority of his milk. Im so frustrated... Its so sad! His voice is almost gone and I know it must hurt to vomit so much.

hypoallergenic formula like nutagimin, allimentum, elecare or neocate. Dr. Browns bottles. Burping frequently. Gas drops before every bottle. Sleeping in a rock-n-play or something else elevated. Time... It gets a lot better arpund 4-5 months. By 6 months it was completely gone and she was off all meds. Cereal in the bottle never helped and if anything I feel made it worse bc when she spit up the thicker consistency, she would get choked up on it.

Is it hypoallergenic? Many children with a milk intolerance don't tolerate soy either

Ask the doctor about Nutramigen. Both of my kids have/had bad reflux and they were both on this formula.
In the NICU when we found out DS had reflux, they told me to use the Dr. Brown bottles. We didn't because the playtex drop ins worked well for us but it might be worth a try for you.
Also, in the NICU they told us to lay DS on his right side for 30 minutes after eating. It is suppose to be easier on the stomach.
Are you burping him often during feedings? We have to literally burp DS every once or two.
