Going to court as only witness and freaked out

Has anyone been to court as a witness? Back in summer of 2011 I was the only witness to my neighbor's boyfriend beating her up and trying to kill her and then pulling out a meth lab. I had completely forgot about it until a prosecuting attorney called the other day about it. I am now being subpoenaed for court as the only witness and I am completely freaked out. The only time I have been to court was on a field trip once and when I was little my dad's boss pulled a gun on him and my dad attacked him and we went to court for that, I was maybe 8 and just remember sitting with my mom and brothers. The court date is the end of February and I told the attorney that I was due in March and was high risk for premature labor and he told me they only way I didn't have to go is if I was in the hospital. I'm just curious if anyone has had to go to court as a witness before and if you could tell me how bad it was?

Yeah it doesn't work that way. If you are supennaed(sp) to go to court you don't have the option to not go. Because if you don't go your ass gets arrested and thrown in jail.

The only problem is it was so long ago I can't remember everything, so I am scared to death of getting in trouble by leaving something out, even if it is by accident.

Yeah that is the only reason. You can't just choose not to show up lol

You won't get in trouble. Just answer their questions to the best of your ability. They aren't going to except.you to remember every little detail.

Not all whitenesses are subpoenaed though. If you refused then you were not subpoenaed.

Yeah the law doesn't work like that. You will get charged and thrown in jail for refusing.

OP I would just answer honestly. Good luck! I'm sure you'll be prepped and answer in as little words as possible, simple not complex answers. Yes or no answers.

you may want to check and make sure you don't have a warrant since you didn't go if it was court ordered. you can have one, but they don't always act on it unless you get pulled over or something and they see it and you get arrested on the spot

Were you subpoenaed? Not all witnesses are. Or if you refused and subpoenaed you may want to see if you have a warrant out for your arrest.
