We should just kick them out when they hit kindergarten if they aren't earning their keep.

Well I never looked it up. All I know I she is taking her kids to where my daughters went briefly. She has been employed at providence for two years and you know what,
Why am I even discussing this?
Making a point based on BS is not helpful at all. If you are questioning whether I'm doing this, chances are this is how you prove your points.
I don't believe everything I read. But when a person tells me their personal experience, I generally don't see the value in arguing that. So question her situation, but it doesn't change things

I just do not understand why people continuously have children that they cannot afford.

Me neither. Especially the parents who don't take care of their kids. Not a snide remark. I'm talking about really crappy parents who seem to not understand what causes pregnancy. The welfare moms you hear about who keep popping them out and having their kids taken away.

It makes me lol that you think someone else is raising working mother's children.

wow that's a load of bullsmurf. Your country is YEARS away from being able to afford something like a maternity leave policy, you need as many citizens working as much as possible to start paying taxes.

Here we get 18 years paid at min wage OR $5000 - $3000 cash for each child. We also get a pro-rata'd amount of daycare benefit depending on how much we earn. We afford this by paying taxes that in America would have everyone rioting in the streets (I pay 32c in the $1).

However we also have all our benefits (except disablity) stopped when our youngest child hits school age. You either work or you get nothing, women in this country are EXPECTED to work when their kids are in school no ifs or buts.

I'm in favor of this issue being decided by the parents and employers. If a company wants to offer extended leave, paid or unpaid, that is their decision.
If a couple decides they wish to have a parent at home, they should plan accordingly. I do not believe the governement should take a role is supporting or failing to support this decision for employers or parents.

What an insensitive and illogical statement.

I have known "welfare moms" who have worked hard to provide their children with the best possible start in life (Which I believe was your initial arguement? Government pays so you can hang out with your kid?) and I have know rich parents who are complete not invested in their child's development.

Similarily, I have known parents with children in daycare who spend every moment they are together engaged in fun, educational and empathy building activities and SAHP's who stick their children in front of the TV with donouts all day.

If you are so happy with your own situation, that is good for you. I don't know however how you can seriously place so many inconsistant and judgemental opinions on other parents.

I know with my DD I was a working mom most of her life and she is much more likely to be social with other kids, with my DS I have been a SAHM more than half his life and he clings to me and will not play with other kids. I am guilty of not being as socially active with my kids as a SAHM than when I was working.

The government shouldn't have to assist someone to stay home. If they want to stay home, then they should be able to provide for themselves and stay home.
We have enough freeloaders in this country & don't need any more programs to give people more incentive to mooch.

I stay at home and don't see why the government should financially support that. I chose to have kids...the gov't didn't decide that for me.
