"You limited yourself...."

posted 13th Jan
Or did you? If you got married between the ages of 18-25 did you come to the realization that you "settled" for less? Did you ever feel like you didn't give yourself enough time to find "the one"? (I said married, but if you have been in a long-term relationship between those ages I'd like your input as well).

I got married a month after I turned 18 but I don't feel like I've settled. My DH and I are still completely in love and I do not believe there is anyone on this earth better suited for me. We've been married 7 years.

In my case, no, definitely not.

I got married at 18 and though I was incredibly young, I knew it was what I wanted and that hasn't changed.

Nah. I got married at 18 and we've been together for 10 years, married for 8.

We fit together like to pieces of a jigsaw puzzle and compliment each other well.

No but I can say that by waiting I avoided marrying boyfriends that would have been "settled" for.

Nope, I don't think I settled but I do think we got married too young. He's the one for me and I'm the one for him, I just wish we would have waited...if that makes sense. What's done is done now lol. We've been married for 5 years come June.

We're not married but have been together since we were 17/18. We've broken up here and there and that's helped me feel like I haven't settled. He really is everything I could ask for in a SO.

Sometimes I feel like having kids when we were so young and had barely been together long enough to know each other that well (4 months in I got pregnant) really limited us as a couple. No opportunities to travel, see each other at our best and worst, enjoy being young together. Straight from young relationship to serious raising babies.

I wish we would have waited too. Because putting of our marriage would have meant we would have put off starting a family.

I really was better suited for becoming a parent at 24 than I was at 19.

I fully agree. I became a parent and a wife at 19, definitely wasn't ready for it.

I got married 20 days after my 20th birthday. We were together 5 years before we got married and next month will be married 5 years. I don't feel like I've settled at all. My husband is an amazing father & provider and is not so bad on the eyes either
