How do you get and stay motivated?

posted 13th Jan
I need to start working out.
I weighed myself at WIC at the beginning of this month, and I've gained back my pregnancy weight!.
I have a treadmill and do intervals for over a mile, but its boring. Plus, the girls think its amazingly funny to try and hop on the treadmill with me.

I have tried the 30 day shred.. I'm bored by day two.
insanity is too hard, but I want to get there. (I'm thinking that if I lost like 25-30 pounds it would be a bit easier since I have asthma and back/leg problems that get better (somewhat) when I lose weight)
zumba is annoying to me because I have no rhythm

I don't buy the food in my household, but I am watching my portions better, eating more veggies, less butter, attempting to get glass of milk in each day, cutting back on soda.
I started taking my prenatals again too.

I just need to lose like 40 pounds and I'll be happy. I'm 198, and anywhere from 5'7 to 5'9 depending on how my back is acting up for the day. I know I'm unhealthy, and I know I would have more energy to power through school, work, and my kids if I lost the weight, I just cant stay on track.

Help?.

I don't have any other equipment.

My Fitness Pal app!

It makes you accountable for everything you eat. It's really easy to find any food you've consumed, and it keeps track of the calories for you. It also tells you how many calories to consume for your height, weight, and age and lets you pick how much you'd like to lose a week.

I love it!

There's a site called bodyrock.tv. There's different work outs on there so you won't get bored. If you have an iPhone, they have a Nike Women training app that I use to use before my phone got broken. I love that app.

The best advice I can give you is just do it. If you don't feel like doing it, just get up and start working out anyways. 2 minutes into a work out, you'll have energy and will feel motivated to finish.

Download the App MyFitnessPal. It will help you keep track of your calorie intake.
Also stick with the 30 day shred. I know it gets boring but, lets face it, thats just an excuse. Youll be glad you stuck with it when its over.

I don't know what to say... I just started working out again this past week after not working out for five months. From last March through August I lost 30 lbs... went from 168 to about 140 and felt great. I had been training to ride 80 miles on a bike that I succeeded in doing, but then quit working out altogether. I maintained the weight up until this past month or so when I quit smoking and gained almost 20lbs back   I did the Insanity before, but never finished it (gave up after about a month) and that is what I am doing now, but I don't like it... I'm just doing it to do something and I had nothing else. We just acquired a Bowflex that my husband just got put together so I may try that soon.

Honestly the only thing keeping me motivated is remembering what I looked like about six months ago... I hadn't looked that good since I was a Freshman in high school. I know part of my recent gain is s the fact that I quit smoking so I guess just wanting to be healthy in general is helping to motivate me again.

What do you enjoy doing?

You can sign up for the YMCA. It is a free membership charge this month and they also have child care free for up to 2 hours. They have many, many classes, too. Plus, if you are like me, swimming is always a fun, easy going exercise.

cut out soda and processed foods. Eat every 2-3 hours and drink tons of water!

Do zumba on youtube and look up Jillian Micheal's fat-burning cardio workout.

I like these vids too.

I want to look and feel good. That's what keeps me motivated. I want to prove to myself I am stronger then my cravings.

I really don't enjoy doing anything physical. I haven't found any kind of workout that I enjoy. Everything makes me hurt in more ways than I already hurt. I know if I start working out regularly, it will get easier in the pain department.

I will look into the myfitnesspal, and see what thats all about.

I kinda wish I had an iphone now, to try that nike app.

And I know all of these things holding me back (apart from the pain, as thats a real obstacle) are excuses. I just need to get over it, but I don't know how.

I hate my body, and I look ugly. The only time I actually got to a point where I started liking my body was when I was using drugs. And that made it so easy that I just don't have any motivation to do it the hard way.

I just dont know what to do.

Oh, and we don't have a YMCA here, and the pool is closed for winter. =/ The park has a track, but it's been abnormally cold here lately, and I can't take my 6 month old out in that.

If you have having a lot of pain, the pool work out class would probably work best for you. The water eases up your joints and you don't get that super sweaty feeling that I hate.

Just start your day off with a nice walk. Go as fast as you can go for however long you can go. After a couple weeks doing that, you will get to the point that you a jog with ease. Then, running! It takes energy to gain energy. You just need to find your routine!

If you want, to can add me of myfitnesspal. My s/ is Jessielee627.

Yoga, walking and paleo. I actually alternate btw that and clean eating. My motivation is that I live at the beach and we are in swimsuits 8 months out of the year.
