They always say,,,,,

That baby comes when baby is ready......right?

Well then what is Pre Term labor considered? Baby coming when ready? Obviously not which is why they stop it to keep baby in....
Even when babies are born at term they still come out with defects or troubles sometimes. so what is that considered? Baby coming when baby is ready?

I was just thinking on this because it seems that so many people are being told baby comes when baby is ready, but I'm sure it is your body that plays a part in it too or there wouldn't be any medical intervention needed for any reason during pregnancy..right?

What are your true thoughts on this? It's like no one can for sure know why or how the body or baby or whatever else trigger's a woman's labor to begin...
Hmmm.....

(Okay, seems a lot of people are thinking I'm trying to justify something or just not really reading what I'm asking....the question being..What actually causes a woman to go into labor?) Off of the text (Baby comes when baby is ready) I'm not justifying anything for any reason..just simple talk to see what other's thoughts are. FOOD FOR THOUGHT. I'm not going to take this to my OB and be like LOOK, give me a c-section..LMAO...NO, just curious and making conversation..we all say baby comes when baby is ready, but is there real fact behind that?

The only time I ever see baby comes when baby is ready used is when speaking to someone who is attempting to bring labor on before they should be in which case there's truth to it in the fact that they aren't in labor yet because the baby isn't ready to be born.

True, but don't you think that there is a possibility that some woman's body's just don't labor? I mean yes we all know woman way before us have had babies and blah blah blah and eventually the baby comes out...but by what measures? Isn't that the whole reason C-Sections were "invented"...because some woman's body's just don't labor on their own?

Also, wouldn't there be no reason for doctors to tell you not to do certain things before "term" because it may cause labor? So evidently it isn't just the baby that can comes when it is ready...it has to be your body also that can create a woman to labor naturally....sorry if I sound like a hormonal crazy person, I'm just very intrigued with all of this and I am one who loves to understand to the nitty gritty how things are done. Just getting thoughts out there...

Yes it's possible that some people won't labor on their own but again the point of the phrase isn't stay pregnant forever and ever or baby isn't ready, the point is don't force labor on yourself before you've even hit your due date because clearly baby needs some time.

No... C-sections were invented in case of emergencies....heart rate dropping and things like that. It isnt meant for an induction..

OP, if you're trying to justify doing a c-section because a woman is tired of being pregnant, you're probably not going to find much support.

You seem to be missing the context the phrase is most often used in, which is saying that when the baby is ready they'll come so not to try and force them, not to say the baby absolutely won't come until they're completely ready.

Correct...another form of delivering the baby...But what I meant by it, is some woman after having labored, their bodies just won't do what is needed. I.E _cervix dilation so on and so forth, therefore ending in a C-Section...right?

If a woman doesn't go into labor on her own by 42 weeks or has preeclampsia, which is a complication, that is completely different then someone being 38 weeks and being upset that labor hasn't started yet. Most women who have to get induced early due to complications would probably rather have waited until their due date.

Haha, Oh no...I'm not in anyway wanting a or justifying a C-Section..I'm not sure where that was read....I don't need one, I'm just putting thoughts out there...I never said anything about being tired of being pregnant either...I think you may be reading into it a little to much in a negative way. Just random thoughts I had that I thought I would get other opinions on...

Right I understand that as I have had preeclampsia...I understand the need for labor due to medical reasons that can harm either parent or baby, but what I was asking was what could the real reason labor happens or starts?

While no one knows the exact cause of labor, several factors come into play during this final stage of pregnancy. First, the level of prostaglandin, a hormone, increases, causing the cervix to soften. Second, the levels of the hormone oxytocin increase, triggering contractions. Third, the sac of membranes surrounding the baby ruptures. In a normal pregnancy, these factors can occur any time from two weeks prior to your due date to two weeks after it.

Okay, thank you for clarifying... I wasn't really sure what you were asking.
