Isn't it!?
My mum named me Danielle, but spelled it Danyle. People just don't understand what kind of curse it is to give your kid a good name with a jacked up spelling.

Quoting Amy♥NOAH♥Pook:" You're of the Mennonite religion? That's pretty cool. Who would have guessed Yessica is a common name in that religion?"
I was of that religion but I couldn't stand the hypocricy (sp?) It drove me up the wall. It's really common with some of my relatives in Mexico.

There's this lady my husband works with and she has a very heavy Hispanic accent and one word she seemingly pronounces as if it had a Y in it, but it's a J...pajamas, instead of saying, "puh-jam-ugh" she says, "pay -yah-maws"....crazy how one letter can change so much, eh?

Quoting Kady:" Yikes! I love classic names but my husband likes names that are a bit out there. Lol it makes naming ... [snip!] ... well I have no idea exactly what that is so I posted on here yesterday. I'm hoping to run those names by him later today."

Try going through your family trees. You can find some pretty unique names that are still classic by going back a few generations. Hell even one can work. If this baby had been a boy, the name would've been Clayton Michael. My FIL's name was Milton Clay and after a little fiddling we found something a bit more moderb but still classy.

Nope they are as white as you can be. They speak low German.

I haven't ever seen that type of spelling for the original name Danielle. Do people get your name confused for something else a lot?

i've only seen one other person on here from erie...and i knew her. we went to high school in meadville together but i dont think she posts on here much. makes sense your family is from around here though if you are/were Mennonite

Yes it is!
I have a friend who always said "yjes" instead of "yes". It was the one part of the spanish accent she couldn't completely obliterate. Y's always came out as a Y and J sound put together.

Quoting Kady:" This name drives me nuts! I HATE it. I have more than one reason. But my biggest one is it's picked by ... [snip!] ... Jessica. Jessica is a great name but yuck to Yessica. Anyone else have a name they simply can't stand for whatever reason??"

That is my name in German. lol.

But, I'm Jessie, so they would pronounce it Yessie. Yuck!

I would tell people I am the descendent of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh drug lord.

Oh yes. Some of the most common mispronunciations are Daniel, Danny-lee, Dan-isle, Dan-eel, Dan-lee, Daryl...

Back in the late 90's, early 2000's when I was in my career studies class I would fight with MS word's spell check. It would always correct my name to Dangle.

...I've even received mail addressed to Dangle...
