Mirena

posted 13th Jan
I had my Mirena birthcontrol about 2 months now, and I got my first period on Dec 30th, and I still have it today (Jan 13) I've got severe cramps, headache, extreme fatigue, crazy mood swings, depression, acne, anxiety, clots, achy legs/soreness. Has anybody else experienced this with Mirena? If so, does it get better?

I hate that Mirena. It sucks balls.

I bled and cramped for FOUR damn months on that thing. It was awful.

I bled non stop for 6 months when I first got the mirena. I had bad mood swings for the 3 years I had it. And I also had zero sex drive. I finally had it removed in October because of extreme pain I was having. Mirena has been the worst BC for me.

NO it didn't i had to have mine removed for those reasons...can you feel your strings? I would go make sure its not falling out or out of place or anything , mine had come loose and was trying to go up inside me and it was bad bad bad...Also I don't know any person under age like 35 who had an easy time with theirs...it is horrible and go get it removed asap before you start getting the blury vision and feeling sick to your tummy all the time   I HATE that stupid thing i swear it was the most horrible thing ever!

I'm not sure if the mirena was the cause, but I had to have my left ovary removed due to a huge cyst.

I had my mirena put in back in july, and bled nonstop every other week until October. After October, no more bleeding.

I have no problems with my mirena, it's surprising to me to see all the women who are having problems with it.

I've had mine since october and so far I love it and so does everyone else I personally know that has it. My doctor told me that within the first 6 months you will have bad periods and cramps, he told me it was completely normal.

I did A LOT of reading prior to getting Mirena, and this really pisses me off. On the Mirena website they do NOT mention bleeding out for weeks to months at a time with as many complications as what women are experiencing. I wasn't even told about any of this by my Doctor! I do get sick to my stomach and my vision does get fuzzy every once in a while, like when I was pregnant. I CAN'T feel my strings, at all. I have an appointment the 29th and thought about waiting until then to really call and discuss this, but considering all the problems everybody seems to be having, I might call sooner. I'm sure the only reason as to why Mirena works so well, is because you bleed so God damned much you can't ever have sex! Well played, Mirena, well played.

I never got my period but i am also still nursing...if you are getting blurry vision you shouldnt wait to go get it out...when i call my doc about it they told me to come in the next appointment they had available...then called and got me in sooner...   not trying to scare you but should go in ASAP and get it out... If you can't feel your strings your suppose to go in anyway...it can cause infertility and all sorts of stuff....i had mine out a few months ago and not intentionally ttc but have had unprotected sex, had condoms break and all sorts of stuff that could get me pregnant and NOTHING...I'm starting to wondering cause it did slip out of place for me...UGH you poor girl i just wanna reach thru the computer and hug you!

Also just remember its not just the mirena, it also depends on your body reacts to it, what works for some may not work for others. Have you tried a different BC?

Did you read how sometimes it can get embedded into your uterus? It doesn't happen often, but it can and does happen.

It's surprising that having a foreign device implanted in a uterus is giving women such problems? It's not really surprising if you think about it.

My friend had to have hers removed by emergency surgery because it got imbedded in uterus. F that nonsense. Glad I got mine out as soon as I could.
