re: How can I faten her up

posted 13th Jan
Actually your all being rude. Asking for some recipes because I make her food and I'm not creative enough to come up with nutritious good tasting good for her, that's it! I'm not stuffing her, she's not going to be obese, I'm not stretching her stomache. I just don't wont to keep feeding her the same foods like carrots that aren't high in calories. Okay so don't post a comment if its not about that cus that's what I'm asking. I'm not going to listen to your "facts" your all strangers so I get that From my doctor who I do trust since she's been my doctor and now my daughters since I was a baby

We're just telling you formula has more fat and nutrition than solids.

Do what you want with the PB. Idgaf.

One food my dd liked was sweet potato mixed with egg yolk. I would hard boil eggs and take the yolk out and mash it up with sweet potato.

she is 6 months old. all she needs are plain foods, you don't need to be making her a meal. it's more about her learning to eat, not bulking her up. just puree stuff for her in a blender if you don't want to use jarred baby foods. it might be easier for her to eat some "slop" than actual foods.

Not trying to be rude, but seriously my daughter was born at 8lbs (so in a high weight percentile). and at 2 years she weighed 21 lbs. literally off the charts. below the first percentile for weight. so she dropped enormously and her pedis and my research have showed that it's not something to worry about. she doesnt need to be "fattened up" . it's only an issue if there are other health problems or if they are showing developmental delays. Just telling you my personal experience with this.

There we go finally some real help. Thanks! Her main food is formula, as I've said over and over again. She has 4 bottles and two meals at 10am and 5pm

My degree is in nutrition and i was a pedi nutritionist in a hospital setting for 5 years.
You are right to be concerned. There is no need to be alarmed at this point, but concern is in order unitl she shows that she is holding to the weight percentile and not falling. It's hard to know unless her weight is followed closely which is what you pediatician seems to be doing.

SOME babies will fill up on solids and end up getting less claories via formula, so be careful of that. The solids to offer are fatty ones lik butter and, as someone else mentioned egg yolk. Honestly, I'd focus on aximizing her formula intake and olnly offer solids after she has finished her bottle (about 1/2 hour to an hour after).

why would she be concerned? I had multiple pedis tell me my daughter's weight drop was absolutely fine. as well as various research I've done myself. I'm honestly curious why a small baby is a cause for concern?

concern as in "watch," not alarm. failure to gain weight can be an early sign of other problems.
