fussy baby
posted 13th Jan
My DD is 3 weeks old and the past few weeks she has been really fussy. She always wants to be held, which is understandable but she will cry and cry unless I hold her in the upright position. She will cry if I try to lay her on my chest and when I try to feed her she will cry very loud before she realizes my breast is there. While I'm holding her, I can hear and feel her stomach rumbling. Does she just have gas and that's why she's so fussy? Should I get gas drops?

I would suggest that she has bad gas and or reflux, babies are better off in a slightly upright position anyway, have you considered a wrap or sling so she can be comfortable? I would try extra winding and see how you go f that doesnt help then i would go to the Drs they will be better to advise you.

Does she pull her knees up to her belly?
If not it could be reflux, my son hated laying down because the acid would rise

Wouldn't she spit up a lot if she had reflux? My first had it and she always projectile vomited after every feeding. This lo doesn't spit up at all. But I think it may be gas. Should I ask her doctor about gas drops or should I try them first and see?

I'm not sure. She just fell back asleep but I'll watch for that when she's awake again

I dont know about gas drops,we have infacol and or gripe water here, both of which you just buy. How old is your LO?

She is 3 weeks. In the beginning she wasn't fussy at all.. so that's why I think she's having an issue. She will just scream if I'm not holding her upright

a baby can have reflux without spitting up, its called silent reflux. They still have all the pain but they dont spit up. I used the gas drops with my lo and they work great. I never asked my doctor about them. watch to see if she arches her back after she eats and try sitting her up for about 30 mins after she eats. That will help if it turns out she does have reflux

Do gas drops help with reflux or does she need to go to the Dr for that?

she needs to go to the dr. with my son propping him up after he ate for 30 mins helped but he was still spitting up bad so i took him to the doctor and they put him on medicine and it helped so so much. He stopped his medicine right before he turned 5 months old and hasnt had any problems since
