can I give blood if I'm 3 weeks and 2 days?

tomorrow I'm supposed to give blood but I might be pregnant ! could I give blood if I'm 3 weeks and 2 days?

Nope they will ask you if there's a chance you're pregnant and if you say yes you won't be able to. From the Red Cross website. You will have to wait 6 weeks after giving birth.

If you are currently pregnant, you are not eligible to donate. If you had a full term delivery or caesarian section, postpone donating until 6 weeks after delivery. If you received a blood transfusion during delivery, postpone donating for 12 months. If you are currently a nursing mother you are eligible to donate.

They cannot give your blood to anyone if it has pregnancy hormones in it.

They will not test you before taking your blood. If they test it and find that they can't use it, they will generally just toss it. They MAY call you, but generally that is reserved for serious diseases.

On the American Red Cross site it says you can. But in Canada they won't allow someone to if nursing until 6 months PP. LLL says to talk to the doctor and make an informed decision.

Our local one won't allow it. I always donated before. when I could (sometimes I can't because of weight since I am short & you have to hit at least 110 lbs & I haven't always). But anyway...they call me every time there is a drive & every time I tell them I will if they allow it when I am nursing (and my "baby" is now 2 1/2 yrs old) and I tell them my child's age & still they always tell me I can't & that they'll keep me on the list for next time.

  that sucks that they're going against the Red Cross guidelines.
