Sanctioned from assistance.

I really need advice from mommas that have been there.
I signed up for the cash assistance program and I really wish I didn't. I couldn't make all of the hours because I was going to college full-time also half of my classes were online and they don't even count those classes as hours. I wasn't allowed to miss a day of class because I had no way to make up the lost time. So, I quit the program. I told my boss I was leaving and I thought he just let my case worker know. I didnt know I had to call her and sign papers and stuff. I just thought, I stopped going, they stopped paying. I guess not. I ran into the "in-between" lady that makes sure you get your hours and she said they are taking away my cash, food and medical assistance. I'm pregnant with my 2nd right now.
Does anyone know if I can do something to avoid losing my medical? I'm calling my case worker tomorrow.

That is really strange. My DH and I signed up for cash assistance and we were unable to make the classes because at the time we had no transportation. When we didn't show up they just cancelled our cash but they did not cancel our food or medical. I know all states are different but that does not sound right to me.

This. OP, where do you live in Ohio? In Canton and Cleveland, they only cancel Cash, not food or medical. I know this first hand.

Something similar just happened to me
I applied for food stamps because we really needed it,and I didn't have the proof of income they needed right when they needed it so they suspended my Medicaid and my sons insurance. A week before I was supposed to have surgery and my so. Had to stop going to speech therapy every week and won't get his vaccinations on time
I had to completely reapply and for LOs it's going to take at least 30 days and mine can take up to 90 days

I would go up to your dfs office and talk to your caseworker about it. You may be able to bypass the whole reapplication process

I live in Columbiana County. I'm trying to find it online. I know I read about losing cash, food, and medical when I first signed up and my case worker talked to me about it and the lady I mentioned before said they were going to take my medical if I dont comply. I'm hoping comply doesnt mean to go back on cash assistance. I really want off of the program.

I don't think they can take away your medical if you are pregnant. I also really do not see how they could cut everything off just because you don't want cash assistance. Sometimes their policies can be really confusing. If you cannot get a hold of your case worker tomorrow, I would ask to speak to a benefits specialist ( like a supervisor) and have them explain it to you. I really think you are going to find you are still eligible for the food and medical, especially considering you are pregnant.

I'm hoping being pregnant and the fact that I moved back in with my mom since I stopped working with them, will help matters. I should be back in her assistance group since Im under 22.
But I found something on losing medical and food benefits.
"TANF recipients are covered by Medicaid and Medicaid is almost always the only health insurance that recipients have. The Medicaid statute allows states to terminate a parent's Medicaid coverage when the parent is sanctioned for non-compliance with a TANF work requirement."
