I'm not sure if.this will make sense or not but bear.with me.


Okay, let's say you own a car. You meet someone who also has a car. You like the car so much that you decide you will trade YOUR car.for.THEIR car. Only,.oops, they lied and it was never.their car so it gets taken away. Do they still have.the right to the car.you had originally? Or should.it.go back to you since it was fraudulant?

Only if you've signed the titles over I would think. Whoever's name is on the title is who it belongs to.

Was it a legal trade?

Probably not since it really wasn't their car to begin with.
So I say go get your car back.

Was there paperwork? I'm not even sure because that's a super smurffy way to do business. Morally they should give it back.

If it was a legal trade then you have no rights to.your old car but that's smurfed up

Did you sign over your title? If so, yes. It is their car and opps your bad for not looking into that a little better.

If you signed your car over with the title and everything, it's gone.

Hm in that case I would hope the person would give it back but if they were shady enough to trade a car that wasn't theirs I doubt they would.

I didnt even consider titles when I made cars my example.

Titles do exist and make a huge difference. You are not supposed to legally sell or trade a vehicle that you do not have the title in your name. If they already signed the vehicle into their name then you would have to take them to small claims court to get the money back.

It wasnt a car that sparked my question, I was just.using that as an example so no, titles don't matter

Then really can't help you. Because possesion isn't really 9/10 of the law on certain things. There is a legality on some items where others is a chalk it up to stupidity situation.

Morally they should, but it seems they lack morals anyhow.

So you're smurfed and you learned your lesson since there is no paperwork involved.
