In reference to your cousin I believe that is attention seeking. Not really wanting to die. But in most cases they legitimately want to die.

Is it selfish? Yes and no. Yes because it's creating alot of grief for family members and friends. No because you could be taking into account all turmoil you put onto your family and friends. I also believe its somewhat selfish to want someone to cotinue their suffering just because I don't want to be grieving.

Have I ever tried? Yes. I have thoughts all the time. I've tried multiple times. I've been hospitalized three times in less than a year.

Do I know someone who did? I know several. Not close. But my roommate in the mental hospital this last time committed suicide. We were extremely close. I didn't know anything about it until a few weeks later because I was in the state facility at that time and this happened in the town of the first facility I was in. Another patient this last time committed suicide.

Do I believe someone who is not successful didnt really want to die? No, there are cases where they are looking for attention but the majority of people who try want to die. That being said there were a couple patients in my five and a half months of being hospitalized this last time that tried to commit suicide many times. I believe they were looking for attention. Because I can't tell you how many times the same people would come back in after being discharged in my 45 days at the acute facility. One person came back 5 different times. One came back 4.

Do I have a mental illness? Yes. I have several that I don't feel too comfortable divulging right now. I do feel comfortable saying I have severe depression and severe anxiety.

i agree with you & im not sure if he has a mental illness or not but he always wants people to feel sorry for him. Aside from the suicide attempts he has also lied about having cancer and other terminal diseases. IDK why he does these things

  I don't like liars. My aunt has had cancer three times supposedly even though her e husband while they were still married told us she never did. As did my grandma. She supposedly took a chemotherapy pill on the airplane to Vermont and spent the entire trip sight seeing and going places. It's pathetic. She goes to Relay for Life and wears a survivors shirt and does the survivor walk. My dad actually is a survivor and this ticks me off. She's a habitual liar.

I'm sorry he's like that.

Yes, in some situations and no, in some situations.

If yes, have you ever tried to kill yourself, or do you know someone that did?
I've never tried to kill myself but I've thought about it long and hard multiple times,the only reason why I didn't do it is because I knew how selfish it would be. I know people who have killed themselves and people who have tried to kill themselves.

Do you think if someone didn't succeed in killing themselves they didn't really want to die?
No. I know a guy who shot himself in the face point blank with a rifle. He didn't die, just blew his face off. I'm pretty sure he wanted to die.

I've never tried but I have no mental illnesses that I know of.
