bed time and sleep

posted 12th Jan
someone please help!

our daughter is 4...

this has been a problem for a long time....we were really great when we moved our daughter to the big bed over a year ago about having her go to bed on her own, we said goodnight tucked her in and she slept. then she began to take over an hour sometimes 2 to fall asleep, and we could hear her on the monitor playing, reading, doing whatever...so we couldnt sleep until we knew she was asleep , nor could we have sex or anything, and that went on forever so then we started to stay with her until she fell asleep
now we are stuck laying with her every night until she goes to bed
but sometimes like tonight, 2 hrs go by and she still doesnt go to sleep
not to mention the fact that she wakes up EVERY night at least once and comes in our room ....still dont know why....i've tried everything, moving her bed, changing sounds, adding sounds, changing sheets, etc etc

Hm. 7:30 seems a bit early IMO, especially if she naps.

do you have a routine? I would do bath time, story or movie, brush teeth and then bed. maybe a snack before hand. but try and keep it consistent every day.

also, just stop laying with her. tell her she's a big girl and you all have your own bed, that's hers, and it's only for her to sleep.

7:30-9 is pretty big range, maybe try to narrow that down.
Maybe she is overly tired? dd is younger, but she has a hard time at bedtime if she didn't take her hap.

What time dies she wake up?

A kid that's not tired isn't going to sleep. If you let her stay up an extra hour would she fall asleep faster?

My DD is 4, and she tried to stay up in bed after we put her to bed.

What do you do when you hear her playing/reading etc?

We had to just tell her "Hailee, go to sleep. It's bedtime, close your eyes." After doing that a couple of times she gave up and went to bed.

Well then you can go the other way and wake her up earlier. You cant just put her in bed and expect her to sleep cuz you need alone time.

yeah my 4 year old goes to bed at 8:30-9 and by the time he stalls, water, need to pee again, etc. it's 9:30. we just go to bed at like 11 so we can have our alone time.
