Having a HARD time sticking to low-cal

posted 12th Jan
I am using a calorie tracker on my phone to help stick to 1200 calories a day. I am also going to the gym, when I can, which is only like 2-3 times a week. I am having a very, very hard time sticking to 1200 calories, especially when I am craving or about to start my period. lol. Its like torture knowing I am so hungry or wanting a piece of something, but I only have a few hundred calories left in my day. I try to substitute a lot in my diet and eat lots of fruits, but this low cal is SO hard. What do you guys do when you are craving foods or feeling so hungry?

Switch to low carb, like atkins. You can eat sooo much food, you just have to avoid a few key things.

1200 calories can go a really long way if you are eating the right foods. Have 2 egg whites with veggies and a 1/2 cup of oatmeal for breakfast. Then have a plain Greek yogurt for lunch and some veggies or blueberries. Have a huge salad for lunch and cottage cheese, and a learn protien veggie and small sweet potato for dinner. You can do it! If you need a treat cup up an apple and sprinkle cinnomone and put it in the microwave for two min, it taste just like apple pie.

Oh hunny, story of my life. I am so embarrassed by my weight right now. But I crave sweet things, I always have cookies and crap in my car. And then every friday after work I don't feel like cooking so I get taco bell. I feel like making food at home and bringing it with you helps a lot.

I know! It's so bad, hahaha. Just cleaned out my car today, threw away all the candy, popcorn, and sweets. Now to start exercising and eating healthier.

Was going to say this too. Satiety is not a problem with low carb.

I'd probably suggest something low carb as well, because it will just cut the calories down a lot.

Are you drinking lots of water and planning your meals ahead?
I find that really helps..
I REALLY don't like diet food, so I am just having smaller quantities of normal food, but I'm also taking phentermine which is helping with my hunger A LOT.

When you went the doc to get the phentermine did you ask for it? I have gained about 30lbs during my pregnancy that I want off..I know I must eat better and workout which I am but want something to help with my hunger. Just curious if my doc will even prescribe it to me if I go in there asking for it. I am overweight for my height.

I wasn't sure how to approach it.. so basically I went in.. asked for a repeat on a prescription and then said I was looking to lose weight and I wanted a boost and then suggested the drug.
She explained that there are risks, and that it would be a 30 day trial..
But my BMI is almost 40, and im extremely obese.
In Australia the drug is pretty expensive, $100 per month so i'm just gonna try it for a month and see if it helps. It defintly helps with hunger.. I haven't eaten today at all and it's almost 5pm and I just did an hour workout.

I'm not trying not to eat either, i'm just not hungry.. but I will eat later on and during the week I will eat more consistently at work.

It really can't hurt to ask, but I think if your border line overweight the doctor may not, and you also have to have good blood pressure because it can raise your BP.

I'm 5'4 165lbs normally I was 130lbs but was in the process of wanting to lose ten before I got pregnant. So I think that is quite a bit overweight for my height. I guess im just embarrassed to ask is what it is the worst she could say would be to workout and eat healthy and no pill . Blood pressure has always been great. Ive kinda always struggled with my weight so maybe she will see how unhappy I am and help me out. I heard it is expensive. There is clinic I could go to and forsure get it but they want $132 just to see the doc not counting the cost of the pill. Cant see spending money like that on myself at the moment with a new baby and all. Thanks for the info.   Good luck on your weightloss.

I do make a lot of food ahead of time for work lunches. Brown rice with tons of veggies as a stir fry really fills me up. I just LOVE sweets....and tacos. lol

Ive been taking " Fastin" for a month and it helped me lose a couple lbs. Its like phentermine, just not as strong. I was able to find it at Rite Aid for $30. But I ran out last week...
