Quoting KelseyLynn:" Ok so my mom wants me to use MY old crib which is like 18 years old. Not to mention the stuff ive read ... [snip!] ... dpr buying a used crib. I mean I would buy a new mattress of cpurse. Am I not seeing her logic in this? It looks REALLY nice."
I would say if u find a nice used crib go for it... another idea is getting a used one and sanding it down and restaining it.... I did one for a friend and loved it... all my dressers for my kids are ones I found at thrift stores.. I sanded them down and restained them and they look brand new!!! and the drop side are recalled but they are not banned they will give you a bracket to keep it from going down... you could always get the bracket from a hardware store and make it secure yourself... I would use the old crib since they grow out of it so quick and put the money you were going to use for the new crib and put it towards a toddler bed
