disgusted by myself. help?

posted 12th Jan
that pretty much sums it up.

i am at a point in my life where i am literally disgusted with myself any time i have to buy any piece of clothing for myself. i hate my body as it currently is. nothing fits right and it's just getting worse. i've struggled up and down with my weight since i was in high school and honestly, i don't know what to do to fix it. i will do ANYTHING to get myself back to my healthier and sexier self (sexier because i WANT to feel sexy). my SO thinks i'm gorgeous and loves every part of me and i'm so thankful for that, but honestly, my self esteem issues with my own image is affecting our sex life (not terribly... we still have sex, but i'm not always comfortable with it). he doesn't complain either and is very understanding.

the problem is, i have absolutely no idea where to start to lose weight. what i need is for someone to tell me exactly what to do and idk who to turn to or if there even is someone to turn to. i'm no good at the guess work and trying this and trying that and getting no damn results. i'm so frustrated and i just want my old body and self esteem back. i need to know what EXACTLY to eat, what exercises to do, when to do them, how much of it to do and everything... i'm just so lost. idk where to start anymore. nothing i've tried in the past works so i'm losing faith in that i will ever lose weight and look decent again.

does ANYONE have any tips or stories they can share? i'm feeling pretty alone right now... i know that may sound ridiculous and i know it's just weight, but it's getting bad. i shouldn't be this big. i'm getting married next year and i don't want to look back at my wedding pictures thinking i was a whale in a white dress next to a much leaner and in much better shape husband.

i just... don't know what to do.

I know how you feel. I just avoid the mirror. Sometimes, when I lay on my side, I touch my belly and it repulses me.

I like how the ad is about weight loss. Damn.

Start slow. Work yourself into some excersice routines. Chose one meal to start making a little healthier then go one from there

Once I got it in my head that its going to take LOTS and lots of hard work and not getting discouraged because you're not losing 20 pounds a month

It's a life style change not a quick fix

i actually eat pretty healthy. i have always liked healthy foods and eat them pretty regularly, but when i got pregnant i made a HUGE meal change. i'm sticking with it now for the most part.

i hardly ever eat any fried foods (not my preference anyway), i'm cutting back on starches (spaghetti and potatoes and things are my favorite things everrr) and i bake alot of my foods (meats, veggies, whatever) and i don't really eat sweets at all... maybe once in a blue moon.

idk what kind of exercising i should be doing either. there's just so many types of exercises i can be doing, but i don't know what direction to go. i'm a kind of person that must be very organized. that's why i can't do the random trial and error way. i need structure and direction. ugh, this is hopeless.

I have struggled with my weight too, I have always been up and down throughout high school up until now. For me I didn't like or have time for exercise. I LIKED to workout but it was boring and Id rather do something else.

UNTIL I found zumba! It is seriously SO much fun and its a great cardio workout that will help with weight loss. You could do that first and then start adding in weights which everyone says you need to do eventually. I have yet to add those in on a regular basis..

I still have 25 lbs to go until my first goal weight :-/ I went up to 243 while pregnant and I am down to 185ish and really want to get to 160. Tracking your calories is REALLY important too. You have got to eat less than what you burn throughout the day to see a difference. I also drink tons of water and no soda. I drink water out of the big jugs I got from the hospital lol

sorry that was really disorganized, but good luck! I am 32 lbs down from my pre pregnancy weight and I still feel gross about myself and hate to go try on clothes   ugh.

Exercise. Drink water. Eat healthy foods. Look up clean eating. I look at fitness pictures to motivate and before/after pictures of people who have succesfully lost weight and adapted to a healthy life style.

Here is what I do to increase my metabolism and lose weight fast and keep it off.

I eat 6-7 times a day, small high protein/low carb/low calorie meals.
This keeps your blood sugars regulated, and keeps your body fueled through out the day, and keeps hunger at bay.

A 'snack' is considered a meal in my book.

On a typical day I eat approximately 1200 calories a day.
I shoot for less than 300 calories per main meal 3 times a day and less than 200 calories per 'snack' 3 times a day.

I keep track of what I eat with the ShapeUp app on my iPhone.

Here is an example of my days food:

Breakfast 246 calories
1 cup kashi go lean crunch
1/4 cup soy milk (I don't drink all the milk in my bowl)
1tsp honey

Early snack 175 Calories
15 wheat thins
1 laughing cow light Swiss wedge

Lunch 174 calories
2oz filet mignon
1/4 c baked sweet potato
1.25 tsp brown sugar
0.25 tsp margerine

Afternoon snack. 140 calories
1 ham, American cheese and mini ritz lunchables snack duos

Dinner 270 calories
1 cracker combos (flat bread, chive lite cream cheese and turkey)

Evening snack 186 calories
3 dove dark chocolates
7 mini caramel rice cakes

Total calories: 1191kj
Total protein: 55g

Some of my choices may not have been the best, but I still packed a lot of good in my day.

I personally am coming from eating nothing but anti diet foods and living in a house with a lot of anti dieters who eat anything they want, so I do cook for myself a lot. It is worth it.

As for excersize, I don't know what you do already so I'm assuming your just starting. If so, just start slow. It is important not to jump into a vigorous routine too fast if you want to keep this going with out burning out or even causing harm. Just go for a 30 min walk daily. Then inkeep in creasing your Time until you feel you are ready for a more strenuous work out. Zumba works for me, only in a class though.
If I'm in the class I am more inclined to finish my work out because I don't want to be viewed as a quiter, at home I could just sit down and no one would know.

Anyways, I hope this is helpful to someone.

By the way I lost 50 lbs on this diet and routine before I became pregnant and gained it all back. I am now 10 months PP and have just started to get back on track as of the 1st of January.

I am 5' 1" and now as of today 204lbs

I didn't weigh myself right before I started, but I did a few weeks before. I was at 230.
I'm sure I must have lost a bit before I started but I do not know how much.
That being said this diet does usually give me a quick kick start to weight loss and start to slowdown, when my weekly weight loss starts to slow down below 2lbs per week I incorporate more workouts.
