Labor and Eating....

posted 12th Jan
Just curious to know....Did any of you mama's ever eat a lot right before going into labor (without knowing you were going to go)? If so, what happened? Did your body automatically flush it out or did the contractions make you go? I had a week or so of not being as hungry and now I'm hungry all the time again an I'm afraid I'm going to start labor and be pooping on everything...LOL...

I ate like nothing. Everything but water made me feel absolutely awful.

I would tend to gorge myself during weeks 37 and 38.

I didn't eat much at all before my first labor and had horrible nausea while I was in labor. With my second I eat normally before labor and did just fine . I did have to poop during labor but it was fine I just went to the bathroom ( my labor and deliveries were all nutrual water births) . With my third I eat throughout my entire labor and didn't have a single issue with nausea or pooping . My midwife actually encourages eating small easy to digest foods during labor and of course drink lots of water.

Ate dinner before i went into labor with my second. I became nauseous as hell and almost threw up everywhere. I pooped on the take with both my kids... I think that pay isunavoidable.

Mine peaked the night I went into labor. I was all depressed because it was my due date but I wasn't dilated at all so my mom made my favorite meal. I took 2 bites and just wanted to throw up. The next afternoon, I was holding my daughter.

I barely had an appetite that last week. I also went to be early and hadn't eaten since breakfast the night I went into labor. When my water broke I also got diarrhea   But only for a few minutes, like my body just flushed everything out.

The instant my water broke with DS1 i was absolutely starving and ate until i got my epidural. With Baby2 i had intense contractions and my water didn't break until i was in the hospital and i got my epidural pretty much as soon as i got to the hospital so i wasn't really allowed to eat. And with DS2 i wasn't as hungry as the first time my water broke, but i did make quite a few trips to the "kitchen" on the l&d floor until about 2-3 hours before i got my epidural. I've never pooped on the table and the only time i ever did before i had to push, i just went to the bathroom. However, my mom did follow me in there with my iv stand and kept telling me i had better not have her grandbaby in the toilet because she didn't believe me that i really did have to just poop and not push lol.

That's classic....I was induced with my daughter and I can't say how many times it made me feel like I had to go....the contractions it produced were so different in feeling to normal contractions. I've of course never gone into full hard labor naturally so I can't really say, but I did know the difference between the poop feeling and the I'm going to pop this kid out nowwww! Hahahaha

ha, yes once you have had one or more babies, it's much easier to be able to tell the pushing feeling from the pooping one lol. the first time around, not so much. i had my epi with DS1 and i actually tried jumping off the bed to run to the bathroom because i thought i had to go and i didn't want to on the table..BD and my bf at the time had to catch me and try to hold me on the bed while my mom ran to find the doctor haha
