refusing right breast all if a sudden?

posted 12th Jan
Hey so I have been breast feeding Harper since she was born and Thursday night started her refusing my right breast and she did yesterday and today . She will eat on it in the middle of the night with out a fight but that's it. I haven't changed my diet at all I. don't really know what to do I can get her started on my left boob but and then I'll switch her on my right and she usually will eat on it. But other then that she screams.. Any thoughts

Probably just a phase. Sometimes DS refuses my left since it produces a lot less milk. Try starting off with the one she'll take and switch in the middle? And let her empty the right one whenever she'll take it.

Maybe try a different position. Laying on your side possibly?

My daughter did the same thing. I think one side was a better producer then the other or the nipple was easier to latch on to. Just keep trying to persevere since you don't want to get mastitis on one side (trust me, it's very painful!).

It's an infection you get if you don't feed enough/ if the baby doesn't empty the boob properly... it's very very painful

i'm breastfeeding my 6.5 month old and he did this a couple of times, would pick a favourite boob... I'd just always offer that one first and he'd get over it in about a week and a few months later would be back at it with the other side lol

Should I be persistent? Like if she is screaming her head off and just making her mad but keep pushing only the boob she won't eat on? Or a Dis

No, give her the other one until she's satisfied but not full yet, then try switching.

Or if she refuses it all together, maybe at least pump the refused side and store the milk for later if you transition to a bottle. Or donate it to a milk bank after she's weaned.
