flu and baby shower

ok girls. im gettin kinda worried. i told my mil and mom that i wanted my shower in november but noone listened. my shower is 2 weeks away (Jan 26th). and this flu is a bad one. i got the flu shot but i really dont want to get the flu. my due date is feb 21st. we sent out the invites monday (Jan 7th). should we still do it or should i call it off? i would really love to have the baby shower but there may be well over 30 ppl in a small room. i sent out 50 invites and on my hubby's side alone we know that about 20 ppl are coming. what should i do?

Have the shower... hopefully people aren't inconsiderate enough to show up if they have the flu (though, I'm not sure why anyone with the flu would want to get out of bed, in the first place).

Have your baby shower. There is no need to be scared. Just make sure you wash your hands often and stay away from anyone who appears to have any respiratory illness.

The media is doing what they do every other year: blowing things completely out of proportion. It's just the flu. Only a little worse than any other flu that comes around every year. I wouldn't worry about it, chances are that if they have the flu they won't show up anyway. Besides, you've had the flu shot so there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

I get the media blows things out of proportion but I don't think they are with this one. I know at least a hand full of people who have gotten this flu. Before this one, whenever there was an outbreak I wouldn't even personally know anyone with it and the peple that I know have gotten don't even live in the same state or are related so it's not like they passed to eachother.

OP like other's have said, of someone has the flu I thought they show up, just have your shower. If you want you can provide hand sanitizer for everyone to use.

you know the flu is bad in your area when the hospital is limiting visitors to 2 at a time and that just being immediate family. i talkin to my mil and mom now about hand sanitizer and Kleenexes to put around the room. lets hope anyone with the flu just stays home

yea... flu is BAD this year. I dont' think it's necessarily worse.. but seems everyone is getting it! nice thing... those who had the vaccine did not... it seems to be a good match this year. I have 4 kids... one of them and I had the vaccine. The other 3 got hte flu. Miserable.... sick for weeks with fever almost 105 at times.

Have the shower. They are hyping this flu up to be alot worse then it is. My 3 1/2 year old got the flu after getting his flu shot. Due to being pregnant I wasnt able to be treated with the preventive but just by using hand sanitizer and being smart about it I did not get the flu from him and I am pregnant and a diabetic. you cant hide in a bubble just cuz theres a possibility just wash your hands and youll be fine

I have it and feel like complete smurf, only reason i'm not in bed is because i have a 3 week old to take care of.

Op, have your shower. I doubt anyone feeling this bad would leave the house at all.

So has everyone in my house, and we've all gotten it. Its baad this year.
