How I get my mind off of ttc

posted 12th Jan
I have decided since me and hubby have beeng trying for a year with no success and stressing over ovulation tests, faulty preggo tests, and all the lil aches and pains thinking I'm pregnant I have decided to start exercising. When I start to feel down about not being pregnant or wanting a baby I will do some type of exercise. Even if it's random. I figure that way I'll concentrate on working out and not getting pregnant and lose weight at the same time. I want to lose at least 20 lbs by May. I didn't realize how out of shape I am until I worked out today. I have gained 5lbs since I lost DJ in 2011 and my husband almost 100lbs. So I think we'll start working out together and maybe it will not only help us lose weight and get our minds off of ttc but get us our bfp soon. I'm wondering if the weight gain was our main problem this past year. Going get our levels checked next month.

getting healthier should definitely help! do you have a primary dr? you should talk to him/her about vitamins and what would help you the most.

Working out is good for you! It puts your energy to good use and makes you feel better. My doctor recommended exercise for my ppd.
We joined a gym last week and I've noticed that even just walking a mile on the treadmill makes me feel good!

I take prenatal vitamins which has all the vitamins I need and will be helpful when I do get preggo if I don't realize I am when I actually do. All of my other pregnancies I didn't know I was even pregnant until either the doctor confirmed it or I randomly took a test. So I'm making sure the vitamins are present for when it does happen. I'm also eating healthier. I had a big ol salad earlier and packed some carrot sticks and fat free ranch for lunch for work tonight. I'm also cutting out sodas. More water, milk, and juice. I will still drink tea but with tea you can contol how strong it is therefore controling the caffeine. So I'm hoping to stick with this as I want to be somewhat healthier when I get preggo cuz I want to be able to see my baby bump instead of just looking huge.

I work out every day between fertility cycles. Nothing gets my mind off TTC 24x7 but I do believe that working out helps for a healthier pregnancy. Strength training especially because it increases insulin sensitivity! So important for TTC.

Knowing a little bit about your history I would look into low carb eating (aka Atkins). It's the best "diet" for TTC.

Yay good for you that you want to get healthy & lose some weight...

a back story on me;

had my first daughter in 05 gain a few lbs was TTC for 3 years with no luck my cycle was irregular I had only 4 periods a year.

started working aug 08 my periods got regular from me loosing a lil weight then in December 08 I was finally pregnant.... had my second daughter September 09..

periods went back to irregular so ever 3 months the last few I remember where April 2010, july 2010 & October 2010

then in early 2011 it didn't show in January so I tested & sure enough I was pregnant with my son...he was born Aug 2011.

I started working out in October 2011 & loss over 100 lbs since then...so working out does take your mind off of TTC... we try for our last October 2012 and got pregnant that month but ended in MC.

My experience shows that getting healthy does help a lot with TTC & getting your mind off of it.....so good luck with everything.

I tried for 6months for this baby. Finally started watching what I ate, lost 5lbs, got pregnant.

I read that even losing a little weight can help so it's definitely a good idea. Good luck!

First off thanks ladies for the encouragement. @ Quoting Momma...I know that losing just a bit of weight can make a different. The month before we got our bfp me and my husband starting walking everyday. I lost about 7lbs and the next month got my bfp. I ended up lost him Dec 2011 and we've been ttc. I think it may be due to gaining weight. That is another reason I've decided to do this. That way when I do get preggo again I'm healthier. I hope the weight comes off fairly fast but I know I won't see much results on the scale because I'm one who gains muscle really fast so I know muscle weighs more than fat so the scale won't move but I'll see the results in my clothes. That is how it usually happens with me.

Have you seen a fertility specialist? After more than two years TTC and losing that much weight there is probably something else going on.

Wow. I'm so sorry to hear this! I makes me hurt for other women who are also waiting for their rainbow and wanting to be a parent and still nothing happens when you got some out there having babies left and right and they can give two smurfs about their kids. It makes me sick. But it's great you lost all that weight? how did you do it? Like what types of food did you eat and what type of exercise did you do. So far I've cut out the sodas and fast food or just eating out period. I'm also drinking more water now. The next thing I will be working on is portions and trying to eat breakfast. I can't make myself eat breakfast for some reason. I know you need to eat to lose weight. Right now my abdomen is so sore from trying to do sit ups and also from really wild BDing the last couple of nights lol. But we're actually gonna start doing it every other night to see if it helps. I just want to concentrate on losing some weight. I want to be able to see the baby bump when I finally get preggo. I'm starting to really think my hubby may have testosterone issues. Not badly but they might be slightly low. He's got the man boobs, he gets irritated easily, and even though his you know what gets hard it's not like rock hard. Only in the morning it gets rock hard and that is when they say a man's levels are at their highest. So I'm thinking that may be the issue. We'll see next month though.

I did find in Oct I have endo. I can't see a fertility specialist bc INS doesn't cover it. I am having some blood work Done soon. I did have a Vit D deficiency at one point. Then evened out. I take a multivitamin & 1000units of Vit D3 . Over all i'm healthy.

As far as losing weight I started off slow setting small goals. Like adding a veggie at every dinner. Walking as much long as possible. I've always ate what I wanted, mostly. I try not to eat out much at all & if so choose better choices. I've worked out at home & with gym member ships never had a personal trainer. My love the "my fitness pal"app when using that I lost the most consistently. I have learned to love running, yoga, & pilates. (sp) Once you start eating fruit instead of candy for the sugar & drinking lots of water your body will learn to tell you what it needs. I was working out 3-5 days a Week eating 1800 calories a day losing 2 lbs every week. But whatever you do just keep walk a.lil further or run a lil faster each time & you'll lose weight!
